It was May 1948 and outside Alex Steiner’s tailor shop, Liesel saw many people running towards the big streets of Molching. It had been exactly three years since the war in Europe had ended and everyone was gathering to celebrate finally being free of the oppressive feeling that the Nazi party had given them.
Humans interest me. They celebrate, knowing the fact that I’ve taken so many of their loved ones. It should be me celebrating because I don’t have to work so hard. The past 3 years have been nice and calm for me. I love breaks.

I think Liesel made another friend. They both sat together for hours and thought about a new name for her. One that doesn’t carry such darkness. However, her name didn’t carry darkness at all; it carried light and peace. In the end, they both couldn’t come up with a name so Liesel kept calling her “the nameless woman”.
It came time to close up shop. Today, it was only Max and Alex working at the shop. When they come home, Liesel and the nameless woman were nowhere to be found. However, Max new where they were. He slowly made his way into the basement, making sure not to wake them if they were sleeping. When he finally found Liesel and his mother, one was sleeping and the other was reading. Liesel was reading the English interpretation of the Torah because she wanted to learn all about the ways of Jews. Max sat beside Liesel to explain the old English words that she didn’t understand.
Something smelled good, if only Death had a stomach. Alex Steiner had made cookies and poured some milk for everyone. When he brought everything downstairs, they waited for the nameless woman to wake up by listening carefully to Liesel’s recitation of the
