Personal Narrative Essay: Fenugreek: The Life Of Herbs

I grew up in a family where herbs were used on daily bases; because of its medicinal benefits not only because of its beautiful aroma. They were easy to grow, and they were used in many different things. As a child, whenever one of my family’s members or I got sick, my mother or my grandmother heads directly to the kitchen and bring the right herbs for what made us sick. They prepare their secret recipe as they used to call it and feed us. I remember my grandmother saying that natural herbs are a million times better than toxic medicines. We swallowed and drank those herbs. I ate Turmeric, Cinnamon, Ginger, Garlic and Fenugreek etc. approximately everyday.
All of us hated the taste of Fenugreek, but my mother and my grandmother forced us to drink it saying that Fenugreek is an alternative medicine that treats: Heartburn, upset stomach, fever and constipation. They also said that it helps heeling burns, softens the skin and it is good for making the hair grows healthy.
On August last year, on a Friday night, all of my family was gathered. Suddenly, my uncle, a diabetic, was feeling dizzy. He was sweating and his whole body was shaking. All of us were afraid. My mother hurried and called my oldest brother to come home and take us to the hospital.
