Herbalism Personal Statement
Though countless bodies discouraged my dreams I still continued to believe in myself. Although, countless bodies stressed the time it will take to live my dream I proceeded by responding with a quote by Earl Nightingale that states, “Never give up on a dream just because of the time it will take to accomplish it. Time will pass anyway.” I was not and am not alone through it all, I had my fiery passion for alternative medicine push me through it all. My passion and love for alternative medicine, like Herbalism, got me through and is getting me through the jealousy, stress, and discouragement that comes with pursuing a career in medicine.

My love for alternative medicine such as Herbalism emerged from anger. From a young age nothing frustrated me more than commercials about prescription medicine. I never understood why and how individual can recommend healing methods that cause more problems than positive outcomes. I am not completely against prescription medicine, however, it does worry me how many have the mentally that prescription drugs are the only option, when there are other ways to heal like acupuncture, herbalism and a healthy and nutritional lifestyle. I know that to be successful in practicing alternative methods in medicine, I have to intertwine my passion to be a medical doctor with my passion for alternative medicine. I understand it is important to understand current medicine to implement methods of alternative medicine because many people are already on many prescription drugs therefore I must understand current practices to enforce old

    I have reviewed the feedback from my peers and I get the feeling that many of my peers would be very interested in using the homeopathic medicines rather than using prescription drugs. I was also surprised that some people have never heard of or have even tried homeopathic medicines. I have also had many discussions with my co-workers regarding this topic and to my surprise all of them have used homeopathic more frequently to help cure the common colds or aches and pains.
