Personal Narrative Essay: Why I Believe In Cookies
After a long while of thinking about what I believe in, I finally found the solution. I believe in cookies. Well, now you’re probably thinking this is some kind of dumb joke and that I’m not being sincere. But, it’s not what you think. Now you’re more than likely waiting for some sort of symbolism about cookies and their delicious, crispy edges. But no, we’re talking real cookies, right out of the oven, fresh off of the cookie sheet. So, what’s so wonderful about cookies? It begins with intense basketball games and living with 8 other people and only having one bathroom. It’s about late night homework sessions and once having broken arms together. It’s associated with bank robberies and local shootings. It’s about fibbing, hurting, yelling, sweating, throwing and aching. All of this screams cookies. Humiliation-deserved evil or heart fluttering pride, toss me a cookie. Scrape, bruise or gash anywhere on my body, give me a cookie. Whether I’m ready to weep into tears or ready to punch, give me a cookie. In times of being really late making it home or getting first place in a competition, give me a cookie. Distressed about tsunamis and the weather, give me a cookie. We all get …show more content…
We all need a cookie. . . or a lyric or a gander in the woods or a movie. We’re a stressed population. We need simple compensation and simple relaxation. We mess up, we blow up, and too quickly we grow up. Take time to master life, take time to appreciate. That’s the point of the cookie. Breakfast, midnight, supper, lunch, or a little refreshment, give me a cookie when I need it most. I don’t need a clergy, a get together, or any pain meds you may throw my way. I don’t search for admiration or throw my struggles on anyone else. Just give me a cookie, two if needed. I will quarrel through, grow stronger, and be apt to take my position on this earth. Yes, I do believe in

Towards the end of the story, we start to understand how Nye and the other passengers created a sense of home somewhere so unexpected. “She had pulled a sack of homemade mamool cookies—little powdered sugar crumbly mounds stuffed with dates and nuts—from her bag—and was offering them to all the women at the gate. To my amazement, not a single woman declined one” (Nye). Even though they were all from different places, they all had one thing in common, which helped them to become a family in some way. For as long as I can remember, cookies have been something that is perfect any time, whether it's a late night snack or just comfort food because almost everyone likes them, they’re tasty and most importantly, they remind me of home, when my mom makes them for a party or just because.…

The Cheesecake Factory, I once believed that the establishment would be a bakery that primarily sold cheesecakes, sweets and such. Although, I’ve never heard much about the restaurant, or what it actually was other than people are familiar with the establishment and only comment on the cheesecakes. Yet, I had not known that that was the place I was dining in, I only believed under presumption of its name that we were going to eat at some other random place when I walked through the doors of the restaurant. Now the reason I say random was the fact that this place was not like how I imagined the praiseworthy Cheesecake Factory to be at all. My expectations of this place was exactly how Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory felt and as colorful as Tim Burton’s remake of Alice in Wonderland was.…

It wasn’t quite the usual Saturday morning in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. We woke up at 6:00, brushed my teeth, and did a final rehearsal of the songs we were going to perform. Then we ate breakfast, where I ate after dinner rolls with chili sauce like it was normal. extra slice of chocolate cake. Then we got dressed up in a white formal shirt and black pants. We were ready for the performance which was from 10:00 to 10:28. Then we rested for thirty minutes. We drove to the town hall to perform. We carried our instruments. Then I went backstage and had 5 bars of kitkat. My hands and feet were cold of nervousness since this was going to be our first performance. I bet the nervousness was a million times more than the excitement.…

I hate Oreos. “Milk’s favorite cookie”? Yeah, right. Do not get me wrong who can resist a Snickers or a slice of cherry pie, I love sweets, but I would pass on a whole box of Oreos for these any day. Being called this sweet name with such a vicious meaning behind it ruined this sugary treat for me. According to my friends I have a severe problem with not being “black” enough, and they claim my numerous track accolades are the only “black” thing about me. I have always been proud of my Caribbean heritage, my parents instilled in me from day one to never shy away from my Jamaican and St. Maarten upbringing, but growing up in white suburbia has made it difficult. Throughout most of my grade school career I have been one of approximately 5 black kids in my grade, and in high school I have been one…

The younger me loved to be active and constantly moving around but as i grew up I started to enjoy times that were quiet as well. The few activites i liked to do and still do now is play soccer, go bowling, read, and going for bike rides. As a little kid and teenager, my cousins and I use to do a bowling day which was very intense since we are all competitive. I never and still don`t ever win because I suck at bowling but it's always a fun day seeing some of my cousins for some friendly composition and to see who will hold bragging rights. Also, when i was a kid my mom and I use to go for bike rides on the trail into erin to get ice cream from baileys ice cream shop. I it was always worse biking back rather than there because I always thought about the ice cream but on the way back there was no ice cream to look forward to.…

Everyday is a new day for me. I wake up everyday pondering whether or not I will be able to get through the day without a single complaint. As I woke up this morning, I went straight to my coffee machine to make my coffee as I always do. What was strange is that every time I tried to start it up, it wouldn't start. After realizing that my coffee machine, my most prized possession, was broken, I quickly got ready with my signature messy bun and went to the nearest coffee shop. I was going to get my coffee. After ordering my favorite coffee at Dunn Brothers, I was not happy to see that they messed up my order. I went to my work and hoped that the not-my-order-coffee would kick in soon. This day has already started off horribly and I did not…

I felt this sense of fear, but I knew it was just nervousness. It caused my whole body to tremble. I creeped onto the field and pass by the fifty girls and all of the coaches. Just me walking by everyone gave me this ginormous knot in my stomach, it made me feel like I was going to pass out right on the field. I was breathing heavy, like I just ran a marathon. I was beyond nervous just to be the new girl on the field. I was scared of what the girls thought of me, and how the coaches thought I would play and adapt to the sport. I had never even picked up a lacrosse stick and the girls were passing, catching and shooting on goal: how does a new player get to there if they were two week late into the season? I was terrified I would never get to the level of the rest of the team.…

Desiring, wishing, and believing, signify all simple mental acts, yet cannot be defined. Every human being has something they believe in, whether it is a goal or something simple it’s only natural to have these thoughts running through your head. So what is this thing people call “belief”? And what’s to believe in? That’s something I’ve always wondered as a young child. Growing up with low self esteem and problematical decisions, anime showed me how to believe in myself and to start believing in other things as well.…
