Personal Narrative: Flying Down The Giant Water Slide
As the day was ending and the people were leaving, it was finally my turn to go down the giant water slide again. Holding up my bright sun orange swimming tube I braced myself to jump and hit the ground with a big SPLASH. Flying down the slide I could feel the frigid water pushing and shoving me down faster and faster. When I got to the bottom I was freezing and shivering but I felt exuberant. Standing there waiting for my friends all that I could feel was the arctic cold air attacking my wet body.

Walking up the road to try and fit another slide in I could hear my feet screaming and yelling at me to stop walking and leave. I knew I should have left right there but the slide was just so much fun. After deciding to go one last time I ran into

On a sunny Saturday morning when I was 5 years old, my sister and I were playing a game where we would push ourselves off of our bed like it was a slide. Our room was a pigsty; it looked as if a tornado had passed through. The mess from our closet met up with the end of our bed. I had just slid down the bed feet first into the mess when it happened.…

The water glistened off the sun like a polished pearl. After strolling up to the shore, she gazed at the astounding view. She hopped into ice-cold liquid, and felt a chill crawl up her back. “How does it feel,” yelled a far off voice. “It feels great… jump right in,” she lied. She thought about how Lake Holcombe allows people to be themselves, spend time with family, and become stronger mentally and physically.…

This spring I spent two-weeks in New York visiting my daughter and her family. I spend a lot of time in the city, and I love it, not only because my daughter has chosen to create and raise a family in Brooklyn, but also because of its walkability. I’m not much of a shopper, but I do like to watch other shoppers, particularly those who dress as if they’d like to be watched.…

The Fury, the fastest, longest, and tallest rollercoaster on the East Coast. With a top speed of 95 mph and a height of 325 feet makes it the biggest rollercoaster I had ever gotten on, beating the Intimidator 305 by 25 feet. I remember seeing on television and wanting to ride it really badly. It just looked so amazing and since I love rollercoasters and love riding rollercoasters, I knew it was something I had to do. I had ridden lots of rollercoasters before this one such as the Intimidator 305 and the Top Thrill Dragster, which I had enjoyed riding very much, and I figured that the Fury would be just as good. So I asked my parents of we could go to the Carrowinds to ride the Fury. They said yes and we went with my aunt to the Carrowinds.…

I used to love reading. In kinder and first, my nose was stuck in a Magic Tree House book. Third, fourth, and fifth grade I basically lived at Hogwarts (in my rightfully sorted house, of course, I am a proud Hufflepuff). And in middle school, I discovered THE tween series of my generation, Maximum Ride. Reading was exciting, and even though I had done it for years every time I picked up a book it felt so novel. I was your ordinary bookworm until seventh grade when the joint power of Ms. Green’s teaching and James Patterson’s writing broke my will to read.…

Augustus Waters from The Fault in Our Stars once spoke, "I'm on a rollercoaster that only goes up my friend." At one point in my life, I found this quote to be totally insignificant. Now that I look back on my teenage years, I see it. The rollercoaster only went up from the point I opened my big, fat, attitude infested, mouth to my step-mother, Verona. The take off was bumpy, as well the entire rest of the journey up. Though it did eventually come down, not only going up. I came down an entirely different person and didn't have to think of life as a fictional roller coaster to stay happy.…

Today I found my LOC story at the pool. We had a bunch of things going on today such as master swim, swim lessons, lap swimming, and recreational swimming for the kids. I stopped by to talk with Pamela Harvey, one of our parents who consistently has her kids in swim lessons. I was happy to see her registered again for lessons. This time when I saw her, I asked why she registers and stays a member of the Y. It’s funny because she said exactly what I would want her to say. She explained that she loves the Y because it’s a good place for the family. It being Christian based was important to her. She even talked about why she likes our mission. This one thing stood out to me when she said, “everyone is friendly and I can tell they care about the…

The Roller Coaster has a long varied history. It has origins in large ice slides found mostly in Russia around the 16th and 17th century. In the 1800s many appeared, primarily in America. The industry continued into the 1920s, which are known as the “golden age” for roller coasters. Production for roller coasters slowed down during the Great Depression, and by WW2 very few were being produced.…

So we went to Six Flags for a graduation trip for middle school and it is just a park full of roller coasters and intense rides. So we were there around 8:00 am and we were hyped and excited and most of the lines were super short. So the scariest ride was basically empty and friend that would be the best ride to go on first so we did. No matter how scared we were and wanted to get off because the ride was an actual drop. You go up and up and at the peak, you all of a sudden drop and your legs are hanging below you swinging around. This was really scary for me because this was first ride so I had no adrenaline pumping, and I had never been to this amusement park before and I was freaking…

Do you like roller coasters? I do, if haven't ridden one you should at least try it because they are really fun. The first time I rode one I was kind of scared because I didn't know what it was like. My family went on a vacation To Disney World in Florida for the first time. When I told my dad I wanted to ride it he said "you know you don't have to ride it" but I said I really wanted to. When we got there, there was a giant electric guitar and it was as tall as the sky in front of the building. The name of the ride was the Rock'n Roller Coaster, based on the band Arrow Smith. It seemed like a really fun ride. It was inside a building and when I was strapped in it was very comfortable. The ride had two speakers in the headrest playing the band's…

When we arrived there the water slides were the first thing we saw there were at least 10. First we all went in the wave pool then me and my dad went on a water slide called the cobra. The slide looked like a big snake and we had to climb some stairs to get up. When we got up it looked like it was dark the whole way but it wasn’t it was awesome I yelled,”WEEEEEEEEEEE” then I screamed,” AHHHHHHHHHHHHH” when we dropped. We went down and up down and up until we stopped. Then we got off and went to the next one which I was scared of it was called the Tornado. It looked like a funnel but it was enormous and it was blue and yellow. The tube could hold four people. When we were going up the stairs my knees were like jelly my dad encouraged me to…

The water was frozen in long icicles that were the width of a car! As we walked behind the wall of ice I was astonished all over again by the beauty of the place. I walked the stretch of ice behind the frozen wall all the while shouting at my grandparents to hurry up. As I was walking back to where my grandparents stood, that uneasy feeling came back. All the sudden I felt my feet slip out from underneath me and my face smashing into the ice. Imagine getting hit with a frying pan in the face, that’s what it felt like. I tried to get up, all the while sobbing because I was in so much pain. As I was getting up, I saw a tooth lying on the ice. I sobbed even harder when I noticed that blood, that was everywhere, was coming from my mouth. My grandparents helped me up, grabbed the tooth, and handed it to me. It took me at least five minutes to figure out that the tooth I was holding was mine. It took me even longer to realize that it was my permanent front tooth sitting in my hand. My permanent front tooth fell out of my mouth while my other front tooth was halfway out of my…
