I’ve attended Pius XI High School for three years now; I still have not found the culture of a catholic whole person education there. Beginning high school I was seeking a place that would prepare me to contribute to the world. Looking to evolve as a leader and also obtain academic excellence through firm guidance and also practice a strong faith tradition. I am sad to say that Pius XI High School was not able to provide these characteristics to me. The experience has been eye opening. However, change is necessary for me to enter the world as an adult and contributor to the community. Being able to take part in a community that has a rich foundation, somewhere that will give my family and me peace
of mind. Knowing that I will leave high school with a strong education, faith life, and understanding of the world around me, that’s what Marquette University High School offers and that’s where I belong.
I have had problems at my present school; problems fitting in; also not having many friends, has made it hard on me the past three years. I’ve not been able to experience the fun of high school nor make memories that will last a lifetime. When I am open to growth or, when I want to try a new sport, or join a different club I’m mocked and chastised about it. I don’t feel like Pius XI is a place where the community has accepted me. Also as a person who is going through tough times prayer is essential. While Pius XI had some faith services there were not many opportunities to seek prayer, or even attend Liturgy. I’ve felt abandoned, used and mistreated throughout my time at Pius XI High School making my time there very miserable.
However, my hard work didn’t stop because of the dilemmas I faced the past three years. While at Pius XI I joined the student government forum, I have served as a Junior Service Officer helping the administration fulfill their daily duties. I’ve been a member of Polish Club learning about the culture and also trying modern traditional meals. I joined a team of professionals to set up small productions and also big productions in the performing arts department. Also I served as manager of the basketball team, as well as participating in some sports such as varsity football, golf, baseball, and Catholic Youth Ministries basketball. I have gotten ranks closer to receiving my Eagle Scout award and also set a community service goal on 2,016 hours of service which I will complete before graduation. I’ve done service through St. Benedict the Moor Parish, the Ronald McDonald House and also Volunteer Milwaukee to name a few. Transferring to Marquette University High School will be an outstanding change, a clean slate for my high school career. I will be able to make more friends than I have within the great community that Marquette High School has. Marquette prepares young men for the future through faith, academics and also within the passionate community and values the institutions holds. Marquette makes stellar leaders, also develops boys into Men that make society great. The connections that are made within the community are there for life. The experience that I will face through the retreats, the leadership opportunities, and just the day-to-day operations will make me the person I’ve strived to be since the beginning of high school. Marquette University High School delivers men character, integrity, respect, and honesty. These are the things that I would like for Marquette to instill in me. Through the years I’ve had opportunities to join the Marquette University High School community in open Liturgies, the sporting events, the dances and even my campus visit. Every time I’m within the community I yearn to be apart of it. Marquette is a place I would like to call home with a friendly and staff and faculty that serve as amazing role models. People who are on a mission to make leaders of all aspects of life Marquette High School is completing their mission and Marquette University High school is a place I need to be.
