Personal Narrative: How Holland Lake Changed My Life
It was a beautiful July day in 2014 when my family and I were camping at Holland Lake with our family friends Kinsey and Lauren. There wasn't a cloud in sight and the sun reflected off the bluish greenish water. The air smelt of smoke and fresh trees. Early in the morning when the campground is quiet you can even hear the waterfall. Holland Lake is a very busy lake with boaters, tubers, water skiers, ect. Since that day was so nice there were a bunch of boats on the lake the waves were huge. Kinsey, Lauren, Alex and I were all pretty close in age but Alex and Lauren were taller so they get the outside of the tube. When we all finished breakfast I changed into my swimming suit speedy fast and rode my bike as fast as I could to my cousins camper, Alex. I had to wait what felt like 5 hours for her to change. Once she was done we waited for Kinsey and Lauren at ¨The Beach¨. Alex and I killed time by talking about how much fun we were going to have …show more content…
Big Mable is a red and yellow tube that can hold up to 4 people, we can fit 5 little kids on it though. It is like a chair with a backrest and a bunch of handles. Not easy to flip and has never been flipped before this camping trip. We all hopped on the tube, our order from left to right was Alex, me, Kinsey and Lauren. After we got our life jackets on over our 2 piece swimming suits we kicked our sandals off and hopped on the tube. When the water got deep enough we stuck our thumbs in the air and leaned back and waited for Don to gun it. Before we knew it we were on our way clueless about what we had in store. Everything was going fine and we were all screaming at every little turn to make everything more fun. Then, I made a mistake, I did waves with my hand for the watcher to tell the driver I wanted bumps. He just laughed and told the driver to hit

“Click, click, click” I stand up after buckling my snowboard bindings and glance out across the horizon. I see the deep blue’s of Lake Winnipesaukee and the cool icy blues over the scattered coves. I look ahead and realize that I am the last one to start down the fresh packed powder trail. Quickly I hop along to gain speed to catch up to my family.…

If I don’t have homework for 4-5 days. I think I will go Lake Tahoe and rent a cabin for these nights. I will bring my camera and go there to take some photos. At night, I will stay in the cabin and look through the photos I take to find some good or bad aspect for each photo to improve my photography skill. And I will bring some tea with me, so I can truly relax from the academic stress.…

This spring I spent two-weeks in New York visiting my daughter and her family. I spend a lot of time in the city, and I love it, not only because my daughter has chosen to create and raise a family in Brooklyn, but also because of its walkability. I’m not much of a shopper, but I do like to watch other shoppers, particularly those who dress as if they’d like to be watched.…

I love Buckeye Lake. It is where I live, where I raised my family, the home of my business, and it is the only place I want to live. Unfortunately, Buckeye Lake is going through a trying time. The low water level, construction, and lack of communication, impacts us all. My feelings during this past (lake-less) year have finally settled down to a point where I can express my thoughts on a personal level regarding the lake situation.…

On our trip to Cedar Glen, I learned numerous things that will benefit me in the future and assist me in making crucial decisions. One of the things I learned is group dynamics and working with other people. My group participated in various activities, such as logs and marshmallows, which taught us that we shouldn’t just focus on ourselves when completing a task, but also everybody in our group. In both logs and marshmallows, our group made sure each person reached the other side instead of just themselves, which the reason why we accomplished the activity is that we worked together as a team. I also learned that in a group, there could be people who lead a task, maintain a group, or focus on themselves. In low ropes and high ropes, we learned…

I live in a small city called South Lake Tahoe in the state of California. The people in South Lake consider themselves locals as long as you have lived here for more than 10 years. However, locals consider our city a town. Our town is mainly a tourist town, skiers and snowboarders in the winter and campers in the summer. When somebody moves to South Lake Tahoe, it may only be for a few reasons; to be a ski bum, get out of the bay area, or family. The people that move here either make it or they do not because of financial reasons. It is very hard to make a decent living here. To say it short and simple, a person can move up here with money or they learn to live paycheck by paycheck.…

Sitting in the freezing rain on a December afternoon wondering what I did so wrong to be thrown out of my house. I look into the puddle that was formed due to the accumulation of the rain. In my earlier years my family took me camping to a lake. My cousins came as well, which made it even more enjoyable. When we arrived at the campsite, I was in awe. It was something out of a Disney movie. There were towering pine trees shielding us from the sun’s rays. Wild plants and bushes surrounded our campsite, but not too far away was a clearing in the bushes where we can see the lake in all its glory. People were fishing, kayaking, swimming, and playing with their dogs.…

It was 2007 on an enormous lake in Wisconsin as the beautiful day came to an end, and the sun began to set, you could smell the calm water, and the trees. A minute later we hear a loud crash. Our boat hit a log, and we are stranded out on the lake. Night comes around, and the mosquitoes are like needles flying in, and snacking on everyone leaving huge throbbing bumps. The air was cool and our throats were dry, we tasted the tanginess of the outdoors as we gather together to stay calm and warm. My mother takes charge, and makes us…

I fell on the boat ramp laughing my tail off. Finally, we got our boats in the water and started packing them down with our supplies. I have never seen so much supplies for a one day trip. We had to make about five trips to get everyone down there and our supplies on the sandbar which is called Little Sugar Loaf. We had about 13 people on that sandbar we were staying that night. We started out by finding a spot and setting up our tents. It didn't take me that long to set up my tent. I mostly helped other set up their tents and sleeping bags and other supplies. There were about four kids that had to carry wood for the fireplace. While others were setting up the grill and lights for tonight. The sun was so hot I was about ready to get in the cool muddy water. I got my chores done for the tents and my buddies and I went swimming in the…
