Personal Narrative: If I Needed To Wear Glasses
Sadly a requirement to see if I needed to get glasses. We got to the program and it was my turn to go up to the stand and read the letters and numbers on the wall, i covered my weaker eye first then my stronger eye. Even though i was a little bit scared i was confident that my eyesight would be fine but that thought shattered when i got my results back, i got the devastating news that i needed glasses. I was looking back on how i probably destroyed my eyesight and i figured it out, my friend lending me his glasses before so i can see what they felt like, even though i couldn't see out of them i stupidly decided to keep them on. One of the teachers warned me after that whole situation that if i wore those glasses again they would mess up my eyesight, i chose the wrong path and decided to keep on wearing them though. “ ….. DANG IT DANNY!!!” So me and my mom had to go to kaiser and order them. I didn't really like any glasses there but i knew my mom wouldn't wanna go somewhere else so i decided to get these bold edged …show more content…

I aimed for the smallest Soc's nose, and when I made contact blood poured out in a steady stream of red as he cursed. He looked to be about fourteen, while the rest were at least seniors, so that got him distracted for a minute. Before I could throw another punch I felt a knee in my stomach and I thought I might puke. When I leaned forward with my hand on my stomach, I felt hits all over the back of my head and my head face. I tried to block, but I was getting real dizzy.…

A proverb in the Bible says, “Where there is no vision, the people perish.” This has become very meaningful to me as I consider the importance of college, and what I hope to do after college. The word “vision” is defined as a supernatural appearance that surveys a revelation. After reading “The Country of The Blind” and reflecting back on my life, I realized that I am who I am mostly because of the environment I grew up in. One of the most important applications of vision for me has been in my personal education. Right when I was able to run and jump, I followed my mother everywhere she went, most of the time unwanted.…

The school had two large maple trees one on each side with a large flag pole in the front. The back of the school had a large playground in one corner of the field and three brownish beige coloured portables in the other which were used by some of the grade six classes. I always wanted to have a class in one, but everyone said that they were always too cold or to hot, or that they smelt weird. It was the first day of school and I was very excited my teacher was extremely nice and I made many friends. We had three breaks a day each an hour long that was when I first started to get bullied. There are many types of bullying such as verbal, and cyber bullying mine was physical. This usually included pushing, tripping, and throwing things at me. I didn’t get why someone would want to hurt others and then laugh about it later. This made me feel confused and scared like I was trapped in a small dark box without knowing how to get out or what was going to happen next. I spent most of grade one with my sister and her friends to avoid the bullies. As I moved on to the second grade I had to find a new way to deal with the bullies now that my sister had graduated and had moved on to middle…

The fight happened just after my P.E. class. We were all in the locker rooms, (me in the boy’s locker room obviously) and we had just finished changing. Another of the boys by the name of Bryce, was the one who gave me the most trouble. He had started ramming me into closed lockers by shoving me with his shoulder, using all his force to push me into it. Each time he did that, he backed away and got farther away before he darted towards me again. Finally, I had grown tired…

The teachers see the school as “bully-free” because their soft eyes refuse to see the brutality of some kids and the fragility of others. My teachers would never suspect I cork my emotions into a glass bottle with the word caution smeared across the front. To them I haven’t a care in the world. They refuse to believe that I am alone, or that I’m not as smart as they may expect, or that I care about being these things. They ignore the years I’ve spent alone. They don’t know that I squeeze myself into the lunch table, between two groups of friends. I don’t have any “friends.” I only have a few people who tolerate…

While that is a valid concern, and should be treated as such, children also need to learn life coping skills and resiliency. Life isn’t fair, and there is usually always a bully, even as an adult. Today’s children are being coddled too much, and given a false sense of security and protection. I feel it would be more beneficial to teach children how to deal with bullying situations, rather than treat them as if they don’t exist. Observation of student’s personalities during recess can help teachers and adults to identify who needs guidance in these areas, as well as, provide them the opportunity to pinpoint the bullies and stop them in their tracks.…

In today's society it is hard for schools and adults to properly identify and deal with bullying. It is hard to ignore the fact that most bullying goes unnoticed or unreported in schools, a place where adults are constantly present. With the exposure bullying has gotten in recent years people would think that schools have sophisticated methods of dealing with bullying, however this is not the case in most schools. Throughout many schools it can be seen that not enough is done to resolve the bullying and harassment happening on a day to day bases. Many schools work very hard in hopes that one day bullying will end, but it is hard for schools to know what to classify as bullying or harassment, since most of it can start outside of school grounds…

think for the better. I have been bullied for many reasons, some I could not figure out way. In every school that I have been in one type or another I have experienced bullying. It might be the fact that I’m tall or that I’m british. Bullying has caused me to lose focus and think some stuff it would be better not to mention. The loss of focusing has caused me in some years to do so bad that it would might of gotten me haled back. The reason why I wasn’t because of my height, thank god for that. Other people have not been so lucky with lack of focusing and other problems. This a big problem what has caused it bullying. Teachers and admin don’t give enough punishments to force bullies to change their behavior, since that bullying continues to be a problem.…

I was on a long road trip this summer. I was having a wonderful time listening to the amazing Will Hobbs’s "Downriver." It documents some juvenile delinquents going on a white water rafting trip down the most dangerous Colorado River. It was filled with stories of bravery and overcoming fears of extreme sports. I need a break for awhile from the voice speaking at me, I need the radio. I turned it on, and there it was: Yosemite Valley, Dean Potter, 43-year-old white man, fell to his death, trying wingsuit fly. This extremity, this danger has been going on for centuries. It could have been family. It could have been a friend. It could have been a classmate.…

Among the nation “shot glasses” first derived from New York City in 1940 but in my household they became a phenomenon in 2008. In New York City they were first used as small glasses with thick walls filled with BBs and lead shots at the dinner table; as meat often still had shards from the bullets. However, as liquor became more popular throughout the nation, they converted into a device of alcohol consumption. Be it a classy jigger, a tacky collection in a home bar, or a cheap collectible in a college dorm room, where alcohol goes, shot glasses follow.…

Constantly being surrounded by people and animals created a hectic lifestyle for my family and me which has encouraged us to manage our time better as we got older. After we left private school for public school, I experienced the most difficult year of my life. In addition to being “the new kid,” I was bullied. At the time, I did not realize what it was because the bullies acted like my friends, but after they attacked me during lunch—pouring milk all over my hair—the janitor told a teacher who intervened. The principal interrogated me, making it appear as though it was my fault for being bullied,…
