Personal Narrative: Ink It Baby
“Mom”, I strongly disagree with your narrative that I must hold a degree in Fine Arts in order to succeed as an artist. Numerous occupations don’t require a degree, just true artist talent, such as a book illustrator, 3D animation, and graphic design. Therefore I’ve accepted an offer put forth by Tommy Apple, an iconic tattoo artist and owner of the multinational corporation, Ink It Baby.” The look on my mother’s face reminded me of a pit bull ready to pounce. In fact, she growled when I told her Tommy would be my mentor during a three year apprenticeship pro-gram. Furthermore, she snickered at the part where Tommy praised my artistic abilities and thought I had the potential to become an ink icon. With nothing more to say,
I braced myself and waited. And I didn’t have to wait long before she contemptuously lambasted me with every negative adjective in her vocabulary and her favorite, ‘foolish’ she used redundantly.
