The narrative, The Driver’s Seat struck home for me because I just received my driver’s license this past May, 2015. I took time for me to actually drive and to become comfortable behind the wheel of a car. This piece of writing spoke to me and allowed me to review some of the identical thinking points that I went through while getting to the point of taking control of my dad’s car. The story effectively walked me through the trials of spirit and mental anguish that preceded me in taking hold of the vehicle with my dad as the co-pilot giving directions. As I stepped into the mud colored cattle car, just the sight of it had made me wince. As I entered, it was like the other passengers were staring at me with shame, since if you were in the cattle car you had to of done something bad. I quickly put my head down. I’m not satisfied with my car ride; it’s too rough. For instance, when a road surface has grooves in it, the wheels get pulled in every direction. My tires’ treads seem too deep for ordinary city driving. Bumps and potholes usually send my passengers’ heads straight into the roof. When I bought my car, I asked about its stiff suspension and heavy-duty tires. The salesperson told me that the suspensions’ elements would eventually soften for a smoother ride, but they haven’t. I used to love reading. In kinder and first, my nose was stuck in a Magic Tree House book. Third, fourth, and fifth grade I basically lived at Hogwarts (in my rightfully sorted house, of course, I am a proud Hufflepuff). I would really appreciate it if you got me a new car. The car I currently have right now is awful to drive. There is only one door that you can open to get in and that's the drivers side. If I want to go out with my friends to the movies or shopping, I have to open the passenger door from the inside to let them in. I wouldn't be able to have more than one friend in the car with me because the backseat doors just don't open at all, inside or out. They could climb in through the front but who wants to do that, then they would have to crawl out through the front to. As soon as we hit 100 mph the cop sires ambushed us, as if they were calculating their bust. “I don’t really feel like racing tonight” kept replaying as the cop’s sirens became less noticeable.
