Personal Narrative: Moving To Everyday After School
In elementary school, I would walk to and from school everyday. Everyone was always so excited about dismissal just to leave school. I was also very excited to leave but not for the same reason other kids were. I was so anxious to go talk to and see Annie everyday after school. I can't tell a story about my elementary school days without thinking of Annie. Annie was my best friend, you're probably thinking oh she's about my age, no you're wrong, she was an older lady that lived right by my elementary school. Everyday after school I would walk through Annie's yard to get to my house, that's how I got to know her. Annie was the “grandma” to everyone in the neighborhood. She was always watching out and making sure the neighborhood kids got home from school safely. Annie always waited for me to arrive, …show more content…
I was in seventh grade and Annie and Ronnie told me they were moving to Texas to be with there family. I was very upset at first, but I knew it was right for them to be with their family since they were both getting older. At first, Annie and I would text back and forth a lot, we would always talk about what was happening with each other's family and big events that were happening. Sadly, Annie and I barely talk anymore since she has moved so far away. I miss Annie a little more everyday, I hope I can see her very soon, that would mean so much to me. Annie was the most memorable person from my elementary school years even though I didn’t see her at school. I never would have met Annie if it weren't for school and my daily walk through her yard to get to my home. I am so glad my mom asked Annie if I could cut through her yard after school so I didn't have to walk on the road. As you can see, Annie was a big part of my life, she was very important to me. Never will I forget about Annie, if she's millions of miles away or right next

Life was never easy for a colored person in the south. Racism was a big problem for anyone of color because they were looked at to be inferior and worthless. Being a product of the segregation life especially in Mississippi, shaped Annie Moody. The person she became was a strong activist because of her life starting from a child and being innocent, to growing up and being exposed to reality, all shaped her to obtain a voice and of mind her own in a world that tried to confine her. Racism is never easy to deal with but harder to live through when one does not fully understand what and why are bad things going on around them.…

It all started on the first day of Night School. I was the first student to walk into the classroom, excited for a fun and interesting semester I was eager to meet my new classmates as well as to make new friends in night school. All was going well that night until Ms. Easton my night school English teacher began to speak to us about the ISU. She began by telling the class to forget about what we previously thought an ISU s for English class was. That was not what I was expecting. Earlier, that week in day school where I was already enrolled in the Grade twelve University English course, I was told by my English teacher that we had to read two novels and write two essays which compared the two novels and their various themes for our ISU. As she continued to speak my heart began pounding "an ISU where we don't have to read two novels and write essays about them? That doesn't sound right…" I thought to myself. I could feel myself getting more and more anxious until Ms. Easton finally explained that the ISU was going to be an Abstract noun of our choice. "An abstract noun? I quietly whispered to…

A person's childhood is something that cannot be forgotten. From grandparents telling their grandchildren about when they were their age, to criminals pleading that their childhood caused them to become evil, our first years are our most important. Annie Dillard certainly remembered her childhood. It is clear that what Dillard tells us about her life is true. It is easy to classify Dillard as an avid reader as she constantly mentions all her books. "As a child I read hoping to learn everything, so I could be like my father," Dillard said on page 214.…

Ever since I was little I knew I wanted to make a difference; whether it meant staying after school to help out, getting involved with the community or doing a bit more to try and make people happy. In the fourth grade I had finally built up enough courage to run from the student council and from there I worked my way up through the years. Student council has given me countless opportunities of leadership experiences that has made it easy for me to stand out in a crowd. An experience in which I knew the hard work had paid off was when it came to planning prom. The few other students working with me had slowly began to contribute less as it came closer to the day of prom. Leaving our teacher advisor and me to put in the extra hours and effort…
