December 1st, 1993 at 10:27 am I was born into this world with minimal complications. I was 8 pounds and 11 ounces, and was about 21 inches long. I was born looking orange, due to having jaundice, which was taken care of immediately. Other than that I was a healthy active newborn. Throughout the infancy stage I was described as easygoing, quite, and easy to sooth baby. I feel asleep regularly and ate plenty. I was known as an extremely light sleeper, but I was able to be put
back to sleep easily. According to my regular checkups, I was a healthy and well developing baby. I was always well within the average healthy heights and weights for infants. I was bottle fed, which my mother stands by as having no loss in intimacy between parent and child. I also starting eating solid foods around 4 months, which is relatively early. My dad says my favorite food was Spanish rice with hot sauce and ketchup, regardless of my mother’s insisting that it wasn’t good for me. I was known to sleep a lot and be pretty calm which is in drastic contrast to my younger sibling. I proceeded into motor development at a normal rate: rolling over around 3 months, sitting around 6 months, standing with assistance around 7 months, standing around 11 months, and walking around 12 months. Based on Piaget’s sensorimotor stage I met all of the developmental milestones at around similar times. Before I developed object permanence like many infants, “peek-a-boo” was my favorite game. I was also a little experimenter, who loved dropping things, especially food. Without any issues with development the infancy years were smooth sailing for me. My first words at about 11 months was “Nana”, which was a result of my parents trying to teach me my name. Nana then became my nickname until just before high school.
