When I was only 5 years old I began to play the sport of football. In my first few years of playing the sport, my father was my head coach. Before I started to play, I was always on the sideline watching my dad coach and being the team manager. My two sisters were cheerleaders for the same team I played on and my mother was the head coach for the cheer team. I still remember that day as a memory that will forever be engraved in my mind. It was October 4th, 2013 and it was just an average October day. The sun was behind the clouds, it wasn’t too warm but also wasn’t too cold either. The trees were beginning to turn orange and there was a crisp feeling in the air. At the time my team was 4-0 and in the driver’s seat for an undefeated season being halfway through. My father had talked to me before this game and I remember him saying “there will be times in your life when you are down and it might feel like you are down for good, but I have watched the man you have start to become and I know you will not just give up so easily because your ‘why’ is greater than anything.” I took in what he said and at first i was very confused but it made me motivated to play that game. At halftime the score was 12-0 in Solvay’s favor and it was beginning to look very down for us. This was the first time in the season that a team had been up on us at all.
