I have set up a ten-year plan on my future.
I have officially been declared as a double-major in Political Science and Spanish. I also have a minor in interdisciplinary studies-Latin America. The university is offering a program that allows Political Science majors to receive their bachelor and master’s degree in five years, instead of six years. I have signed up for various clubs on campus. I joined Mock Trial and the Midwest Model United Nations. After my undergrad, I plan on joining the Peace Corps for a year or two. Then after my resume is built up, I will apply to grad school. The pressures, of deciding my future, has vanished. The indecision is not there and I feel free to follow and focus on my path.
Although I have gained weight in my freshman year of college, I know the steps in need to take to be physically well. I have started going to the gym on a bi-weekly basis and doing exercises in my room. My fridge is filled with fruits and vegetables, but I do have a pint of ice-cream in my freezer. I know my limitations and reward myself on my accomplishments.
I continue to go to my sister’s house and socialize with other people on a daily basis. My social-civic wellness has never been higher. My high school life was always quiet and lonely. Today, I throw myself into social situations and take a leap of faith with strangers. Strangely, I have never been closer to my family. I call weekly and update them on my life. I feel connected with the world.
