The first time I got involved with something I never did before was during my sophomore year. My class advisor asked me to conduct Math review sessions for our class. I was hesitant on doing the review sessions because I am not a good speaker. But I really wanted to help. I used that chance to challenge myself into overcoming that weakness. It was not easy in the beginning. I stuttered a lot and became frustrated at myself at the end of every session because of how bad I explain things to my classmates. The review sessions were held twenty to thirty minutes before our one-hour lunch break is over. I feel fulfilled because eventually I was able to adjust. I realized that we were just like having a big group study session.

I and the other members aimed for a greater involvement of students in Math activities by conducting fun and creative contests for the whole student community. It was one of the most fulfilling opportunities that I have been given. When I got in at the University of the Philippines- Diliman (UPD) in 2013, I continued getting involved in helping others while being an active student at the same time. I joined ASAPhil-UP— Architectural Students’ Association of the Philippines— an academic organization of the UPD- College of Architecture, to do this.
