The reason why I decided to leave everything behind was because I really had no other choice than to leave and try to survive on my own. Like you guys know my parents abandoned me in the front door steps of the orphanage when I was just a few days old. The maximum age to stay in the orphanage home is 16 years old, and when I turned 16 I knew I had to leave. This is when I decided to migrate to Jamestown.
I also decided to migrate to Jamestown because of the push and pull factors that led me to leave. The push factors that led me to leave to Jamestown was that the rents in England were extremely high and I would not be able to afford the pay specially with the low paying jobs in England. The bad harvest didn’t make things much easier. The pull factors were the recruiters, the different opportunities offered and the hope of one day owning land my own piece of land. I was motivated to better my future. I migrated to Jamestown in the year 1609. The voyage to Jamestown took approximately four and half months. The trip to Jamestown took so long because of the ships we used and the many stops that were made before getting to Jamestown. While on the voyage I recall making a stop in the Canary Island, and the Caribbean. A lot of the stops were necessary while waiting for the winds to sail North, Parallel to the coast of North America and finally arrive to Virginia.
