of healthier alternatives. I soon realized that nutrition is a bigger factor in weight loss than I initially thought. The next year of my life was about to start, freshman year of high school. It was a chapter in my life that I had been waiting for ever since I was in school. To be honest, I was really nervous. I didn’t know if anyone would really care that I had changed or even notice. The first day came and I had hardly been noticed not because they didn’t care but because I had changed so much that people didn’t know it was me.
Through this experience I had my first taste of what it was like to be dedicated to something.
I learned that dedication is an important characteristic in life. Ever since I was a young kid my dad has reminded me about how important character is and whether I knew it or not, he was right. A person's individual qualities explain who they are more than words can explain. Everyone has character whether it is good or bad. I have lived by the character quote "Our character is defined by what we do when we think no one is looking". I have lived for this quote every day of my life constantly striving to get better even if no one is watching. I have spent countless hours in the weight room making myself better than I was the day before. Through this, I have picked up many qualities such as self-discipline I am still learning more every day. One of my biggest qualities that I have learned is leadership when I became the team captain for our varsity football team. Leadership is something you can constantly be adapting to. For instance when in football practice I go by the motto "listen if you want to be heard". I have learned my other qualities such as respect, integrity, and courageousness. I plan to use my qualities at the UW-Wood campus to enrich the community and also improve me as a person. I am excited to further my education at the UW-Wood
campus.
