Unlike most kids my age, needles didn't scare me, being poked and prodded became normal for me. After almost dying from the worst case of Cat Scratch Disease the Texas Children’s Hospital had ever seen at the time, having a little blood taken was the least of my fears. I do what I can to help whoever I can, and I want nothing more than a career that allows me to do exactly that each and every day. I know how to identify with others on a deeper level than most, I know how to comfort others better than anyone I know. It can be a close friend or someone I've known for all of a few minutes, and I've learned that nurses with this ability have given me some of the best memories during some of my worst experiences.
I hope to become an RN with the help of the Edinburg University, and from there I would like to work in the NICU and eventually become a CRNA. Surgical procedures are arguably one of the most frightening experiences many people will have to go through, and to have a CRNA that not only identifies with the patient but can comfort the patient, I feel, is extremely important.
