the people sitting in front of you.
A few of my weaknesses include vocal distractors, maintaining consistent eye contact with the audience, jittery voice, and unclear transitions. In the beginning, I started with many “ums” or “like” and still do as it is pointed out in almost every single feedback. I rely too much on my notes and that lead to less eye contact. Looking less at the audience does not make a connection that makes all the difference between speaking at or to an audience, and speaking with an audience. I also believe that I could use more natural gestures while speaking. I keep always try to just keep my hands at my side to minimize distractions.
I will demonstrate my ability to become an effective communicator in the next speech by applying several acquired skills through different methods. I will learn to breathe correctly with full-relaxed breaths. Thus, it will improve the clarity of my voice to sound more confident. I will practice by speaking slowly to exhibit proper control. Furthermore, I want to speak extemporaneously so that my speech flows naturally. I will change the structure of my notes by adding key words, phrases and specific directions regarding slide changes for my visual aid. I will write down notes for any changes and practice with the PowerPoint to accentuate specific main points. With practice, I believe I can minimize these negative problems to show improvement in the final speech.
