Personal Narrative: My President Of Key Club
Along the same lines of Big Brother Big Sister is a club that I am proud to call myself President of Key Club. Over the last two years I have put my entire life into marking a difference in my home town. I have completed over hundred hours of community service and paperwork to show my town that I appreciate it. My jobs is to take this group of leaders
2 and guide them toward opportunities that will allow them to thrive, and to make their own difference. I assist students and teachers to make their lives easier. We have done almost all of the events in Southampton, from September Fest, Maureen's Havens to Family Fun Day and Raking elderly people's lawn. Through this organization I learned what it means to be a leader and essentially a teacher.

Being a part of so many great organizations, for example SMAC (Stillwater Makes a Change) and Youth Leadership Oklahoma, has not compared to being a part of Pink Out week at Stillwater High School. So far, I believe that my greatest accomplishment has been being a Co-head of Pink Out week. Pink Out has helped me grow so much as a leader and has taught me how to execute large scale events. It has also been my biggest impact on the community.…

I am all for helping out those less fortunate than we are, especially children. In this case we were helping children facing adversities ("Littles"), get matched with adult volunteers ("Bigs"). This way they can foster strong, enduring and professionally supported relationships to change lives for the better. Sometimes all you need is a mentor to make your life a lot more…

Being a leader in 4-H, I have taken on many roles to make the 4-H experience a memorable and very enjoyable. One of my more recent projects was creating a six week Cloverbud Science Club. After school, the cloverbuds in the Perham School District would come to the Science Club and learn various science topics including space, water, and chemistry. I prepared the lesson, taught, and cleaned up. Besides teaching, I became a quick problem solver when it came to a conflict. I learned how long the youth could focus on a project and how to explain the results from their experiments. This science program was the first taste of 4-H many of these students had, but it made their 4-H experience a fun and memorable journey. By implementing these programs,…

One of the first interact club events I took charge of organizing involved reading to kids at an underprivileged elementary school. I served as the role model for a large group of curious young students and gained a more insightful perspective of the substantial impact that my volunteer work actually has on the community. Reading to kids is one example of an Interact event that influenced me into becoming a more effective communicator with different types of learners.…

Since I was a kid I’ve noticed my home town of Pomona, CA had areas that were roughed up. Whenever I passed through main streets like Holt Avenue I could see sidewalks filled with homeless people & damaged property. Seeing my city in bad shape sparked something in me & I knew I wanted help better the city & give back to it but wasn’t really sure how to contribute up until high school. Sophomore year in high school I joined Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlán, MEChA, I was introduced into this club by a friend that was actively involved in it. MEChA’s main focus in the community was to help the Spanish speaking people within the community that were in need of help in school. Another club that I joined that year was Key Club International.…

My leadership style is best described as a funnel. My aim in leading others is not to conduct every single individual, but to guide everyone to work towards the same central goal. I believe it is best to let others bring their own unique abilities to the table and use them to accomplish the task at hand. One of my most memorable experiences as a leader was leading my school’s student section. When I came into high school, school spirit was a joke. At games, everyone sat and no one said a thing. I decided that needed to change. My fellow students didn’t want change. They told my friends and I to sit down and shut up. I kept standing, I yelled louder, and kept going. Eventually, I started a spark. By the end of my freshman year there were a group…

The Boys and Girls Club of America helps thousands of Americans each year as a daycare, escape from home, way to meet new friends or to eat a sustainable meal that they wouldn’t be able to get at home. Another way that the Boys and Girls Club benefits kids is by having organized sports where the players can develop competitiveness, teamwork and become coachable. As someone who volunteers at the Boys and Girls Club I am able to experience all of the good that goes on both within and outside of business hours. As I wrap up my high school career and go on to the next stage in my life I often find myself looking back at not only those who helped shaped me into the person I am today but also the extracurricular activities I participated in. The Boys and Girls Club is one thing that continually pops into my head with the activities I partook in as well as the children and adults alike, without these experiences I would not have devolved my love for basketball, been so willing to give back to the community, or have been showed the do’s and don’ts of parenting.…

Key Club is the oldest and largest service program for high school students. It is a student-led organization whose goal is to teach leadership through helping. Key Club International is a part of the Kiwanis International family of service-leadership programs. A local Kiwanis club sponsors many local Key Clubs. This club includes students who want to dedicate their time to community service and other school activities. We raise money and try to make our club better so we have more opportunities to go out and compete with other schools. We all have fun and work hard at the same time. It is a great use of my time and effort.…

This whole presidential race has been something. To be specific it has been something I have hated. Politics is probably the only thing in this world that I feel such a hatred for. I don't hate it because of the outcome of the election, I hated it before that. The reason I hate it is because it just turns everyone against each other and it just causes negativity.…

The CARE packages contained basic needs such as toothpaste and shampoo, and special items like nail polish and makeup. After we packaged everything, we were able to sort out clothing and cans that were going to be distributed the next day. Working behind the scenes and helping the workers prepare was very rewarding.…

Club, which has taught me a lot of different skills, but the biggest skill that I feel most affected me in learning is taking action. Every year in H.O.P.E. we would decide to raise money and awareness for a different cause. My freshman year we decided to buy life straws for people in need in different countries. We got to witness how the life straws works by putting a lot of dirty water in a container and the drinking it with the life straw. During my sophomore year we decide to get a hydration station for the elementary and middle school kids. I really loved this experience because I still remember how excited the kids were to get their turn on filling up their canteens. It felt really good being able to educate the kids about recycling and using canteens instead of water bottles, so they use less plastic bottles. During junior year we raised money to help give a jungle gym to G3. This year we decided that we wanted to give money to make a well for people that have to walk miles just to get fresh water. The H.O.P.E. Club has really helped me learn that anyone can take action on problems in the world that are big or small. We just have to dedicate time and effort to get things…

Exemplar service programs that I contributed to were Swing for Laurie’s Kids, a tennis program intended for people with a mental handicap; as well as Top Soccer, a soccer camp for individuals with a mental impairment. Athletically, I have counseled my tennis coach with player placement, in addition to being a judge at a cross-fit competition known as the Battle of the Boxes. At school, I undertake the task of managing the library, and actively assist with student council projects such as: collecting donations for servicemen, wrapping shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child, and placing and removing homecoming decorations.…

If I could make a club that would help alleviate people’s frustrations, it would be known as the Luxury Club. Within this club, members get to relieve their stress and frustrations by doing things such as shopping, traveling, and etc. I consider this as luxury, because everyone’s financial capabilities vary, therefore not everyone can afford to shop, travel, or eat at a nice place often. For me, I get frustrated when things don’t go the way I want them to. Shopping helps me relieve this emotion by making me feel like things are going my way whenever I purchase items that I want. In a way, it also makes me feel as though I’m getting my life together when in reality I’m not. Because there are billions of people in the world, I know that there…
