I get a lot of my strength from my mom, who immigrated to the United States from El Salvador. She came to America to make a better life, far away from the civil war, drugs, and gang violence that plagued and tore apart El Salvador. As the oldest of three, I’m the first in my family to be in college and to study abroad.
As you know, a studying abroad is quite expensive, but it is an investment that is certainly worthwhile. I’m currently supporting myself by working full time at a local chocolate shop. Working has
been one of the ways that I been able pay for school and also by help of financial aid. With what I earned working I give a portion to my mom to help her with some of the bills and the rest I use it for my tuition and personal expensive.
The struggle that had to face with my decision to study abroad was not having the necessary funds to even make it possible. My only source of funding are scholarships/financial aid and if I receive the International Education Fee Scholarship it would help me to get closer to being able to pay for my tuition. Having the opportunity to study abroad would an academic and personal accomplishment.
