Personal Narrative: My Thanksgiving With My Family
My favorite holiday memory was Thanksgiving with my family in 2010. As soon as I stepped foot into my grandmother's small townhouse I said hi to everyone shaked my uncle's with a firm grip, kissed my grandpa and grandma's hands, and my aunts all left a huge red spot of lipstick on my cheek acting as if I was still a kid. When I was done doing with business I gave my four other cousins around my age that look, which was to run to the basement and wrestle or do other wild things until my grandpa would come down stairs screaming at us. After a couple of hours when my cousins and I were done fooling around, we would all ask our parents for a dollar or two. We knew that if we asked separately that our parents would say something like “what do you need money for” or what not. …show more content…
It was my most memorable holiday for me because all the members in my family were present. During that time everyone was laughing, having fun, and enjoying spending time with one another. The best part of Thanksgiving dinner was food which was turkey and the gravy. The worst part was when one of my uncles took the whole entire turkey leg just for himself and everyone was staring at him with a frown. Later I stood up to get a bottle of water. I came back my and my spoon was missing, I looked to my right and the same spoon I was using was on my uncles plate. My family is very strict on respect, so if I even said anything then they would of looked at me and would of been like look that disrespectful boy so I did not even bother. Despite my uncle doing that I still love and miss him. That was my favorite holiday memory because my grandmother was still alive and all my family still lived in Chicago. Thanksgiving is the best holiday because you notice how thankful you are and how many times in the year how most people are not grateful. How in the blink of an eye one of your family members could be gone just like

My Thanksgiving break was pretty good. On Thanksgiving, I went to Indiana to my cousins' house. It was a two-hour drive, so it wasn't that long. All of my cousins are older than me- literally, all of my cousins even from I don't know where. The only people younger than me are my siblings so I'm not the youngest of ALL the people. Anyways, we had eaten all of the thanksgiving things you can possibly eat. I loved thanksgiving this year and I can't wait next year.…

As a Chinese-American, my family expected me to help out at the restaurant while maintaining straight A's in school. But, it wasn't easy; every day, I would report to the restaurant after school and immediately start working. Inside the kitchen, I would pack all the orders into aluminum containers, place them into a brown bag, and insert packets of sauces and utensils. Burns and cuts were common due to the terrible and tearable aluminum containers. Outside at the front desk, I would answer the seemingly endless ringing phones. In many instances, customers had to wait either on the phone or at the front desk for me to find their orders on the computer, even after they showed me where it was on the menu. During lunch hours, the pressure was even…

Today was the day. The big day. My election for Lieutenant Governor of Division 2B for Key Club, an international service club, was today. Fear and anxiety pricked my skin in rapid movements emanating from every pore. I rehearsed my speech for the fifth time that day. Upon arrival at the Fairfax Library, I urged myself to remain calm. I quickly scouted out the other girls who were present; one girl was dressed professionally with a folder in her hand. I knew that was my competition. The girl spoke eloquently and genially, she radiated enthusiasm and a certain warmth that I did not have. With every question that was asked, she answered with a smooth smile and high-pitched tone that was dripping with sincerity. I bristled inside; I had just been slapped. I was shrouded in a cloud of anxiety and anxiousness. Suddenly, I was dragged from my reverie.…

My family environment has influenced me a lot especially when my siblings were born. I am the oldest out of five, so I'm always look up to. I always had to make a good example and never show that I was scared. When my mom and stepdad had to work, I would take care of them until they came back while getting my schoolwork and practicing my instrument done too. I never really had a chance to be a kid, I always had to be a mother to my siblings. I would always wish for more time in the day for myself, Although watching them grow up from when they were small and started school for the first time made up for that loss time. I live up to a quote, "Be the master of your future, not the slave of your problems." My senior year I had to stop being…

Grandma Calls out “Dinners ready” and before you know it the dinner table is engulfed with all my siblings and of course papa. We all sit eager as ever, anticipating thinking and imagining how good the turkey is going to be this year. Everyone’s engaged in one another, talking joking and laughing around the table. It’s about as good as any Thanksgiving dinner can get, but as soon as grandma cracks open the oven the aroma of the freshly seasoned and cooked turkey floods the kitchen. It’s as silent as the nights whistle. She brings the comestible around with the help of Uncle Richard, as grandma is getting far too fragile and weak to do anything on her own anymore. We as family agreed her cooking skills are far too superior a thing to allow to go to waste. So whenever the opportunity arises, one of us is always helping grandma. Uncle Richard proceeds to slice the turkey ever so graciously making everyone at table froth at the…

Throughout my 13 years I have been through so far, I have thankfully not experienced losing someone really close to me, losing a prized possession, etc. Everyone hopes these things will never happen, but I know one day I will, even when trying to avoid them, it’s impossible. However, there was one moment that made me realize all the grateful things I already have around me. This day, was Thanksgiving day of 2012, in Central Park, Pasadena, when I was helping out at a little event for the homeless.…

It was a perfectly normal Saturday night, until I sat on the couch. I expected to enjoy a funny movie with my dad, but instead I got a trip to the hospital. I sat on the couch, and then I felt a sting in my elbow. At first, it felt like I got a shot at the doctor, but it slowly got worse, and felt more like a knife slicing into my elbow. I winced and sprung up from the couch. I squinted and my eyes scanned the spot where I just sat down. Aha, I thought. There was a small piece of plastic, and it looked like it broke off from a container.…
