I was so excited. It was our first camping trip since last season. We go to Pueblo, Colorado, every other weekend. From the beginning of August till the end of September. We arrived around 10 o’clock Friday night. Everyone went to bed, so that we were well rested for the following day. We wake up early to go out on the water. We all run out of the mud. When we get out we see a stream of wasps covering every inch of our legs that was in the mud. I scream and run to the water. Every step I feel several pinches on my leg. Caitlin is screaming, trying to get the wasps off with a rock. Hannah is screaming and trying to brush them off with her hand, soon she joins me sprinting in the water. I wasn’t too much worrying about them at the time though. It took a bit of time for us to be clear of the wasps. It was almost impossible to walk. We start making our way back to our spot in the cove. When we get back, our families were gone. Assuming, when we went for our walk they took the boat out. Thinking they will be back soon. We couldn’t call them either because our phones were in the boat. So we just sit down, and wait without saying a word. The three of us in so much shock and pain. My legs were throbbing, pink and blown up like balloons. I wasn’t feeling much anymore, just going numb. Soon, I couldn’t feel anything from the waist up. That was the end of our weekend. Pretty rough couple of days.
Lesson learned. To this day I am scarred from wasps. I can’t even be generally close to a wasp or bee itself, without freaking and running until it's out of sight. I wasn’t so hot about going camping for a couple of weeks after that. Although, that day still taunts me, I still have a great time going to Pueblo with my family and
