"Amy, I dare you to take Sam Devon to Chad Frasier's senior party," Jenna, my best friend, dares me.
"Game on," I reply cockily, blowing a piece of hair off of my face. My friends stare at me baffled, as I smirk.
"But... He's so... Nerdy," One of my other friends, named Silvia, says.
"Yeah! And you're dating Dylan anyways," Alexia, another friend of mine, chimes in. Dylan reaches over and puts his hand around my shoulders. I give him a quick peck on the lips before turning my attention back to my friends.
"Guys, it's not like I'm asking him on a date. I'm just taking him to a real party. He's probably never even been to a real party, the poor little dork," I scoff.

all sigh in unison as they realize my intentions. "It's not like I'm gonna even really talk to him. I'll basically be babysitting him the whole time," I chuckle to myself quietly as they all murmur around me. Dylan stands up and removes his arm from around my shoulders. "Babe, where are you going?" I ask as he swerves in between everyone over to a nearby table with his keys on it.
"I'm gonna go pick up some beer for everyone and cigarettes. Want anything while I'm out?" He runs his hand through his chocolate brown hair.
"Yeah, pick me up a pack of Camel cigs while you're out," I tell him as I stand up and hand him a 20, "Pay for it with this, babe."
He took the money from my hands and thanked me with a kiss before he left.
"Wow, you sure got lucky with Dylan," Lindsey, the youngest of us all, states sighing.
"Don't go drooling over him yet, newbie. He's mine. If I see you flirt with him even once, consider your reputation ruined," I threaten. She looks at me in complete shock. I cross my hands in front of my chest and give her an intimidating glare.
"Okay, okay, I'm sorry," Lindsey apologizes to me. The other girls look at us, expecting a fight to throw down. Knowing my reputation and all, they all begin to think I was going to slap her. I won't though, only because she's just a newbie.
"Anyways, let's continue our game of truth or dare before Dylan comes back," I say. They all nod their heads in unison and we start the game again. "Okay, Penelope, truth or dare?" I ask continuing the game.
"Um...um..truth," she finally spits out an answer, after thinking for a while.
"What a wimp," I whisper under my breath, "pick a dare for once."
Penelope was another newbie as well.
Some idiot decided to invite about three newbies into our weekly hangout sesh on Wednesday. My parents are luckily on a date night every Wednesday, so I can sneak over some friends. Penelope growls under her breath which encourages a glare from me. She isn't allowed to be rude to us or she gets kicked out of our hangout group and popularity. I know it sounds harsh, but that's how life is...harsh. Too bad, because I feel like she could replace me as the leader one day.
"Pick a dare! Pick a dare! Pick a dare!" Everyone chants in the background of my thoughts.
I stop thinking and I look over to the group of teens chanting. What a mess.
"Ugh, okay, dare," She finally gives into our persistence.
"Perfect!" I clap my hands together like a villain in some Bond movie, "I dare you to TP your own house."
The crowd goes wild.
"But..but..my parents are home," she stalls.
I lean over to her ear and whisper, "you have a chance to lead this group one day. You always have to take a dare."
She smiles as she hears my words.
"Okay, let's go," She stops stuttering and she stands up. I stand up next to her and we wait for the others to join
us.
"Let's go, slowpokes, we gotta watch her do the crime," I laugh slightly and I run into the bathroom, grabbing several rolls of toilet paper. "Here," I return to a room with everyone standing and awaiting for my orders. Whenever a prank was being pulled, I was the captain. I hand as many rolls of toilet paper as I can to Victoria and Lindsey, the other two newbies. The rule of newbies, you always carry the supplies. "Lead us to your house," I say to Penelope. She smiles nervously and opens the front door for us to exit.
"Okay, this way," she leads. After only five minutes of waking, we arrive at her house. It is a small home, perfect for a family with an only child.
"This place is perfect to TP," I state confidently. Suddenly, I hear a commotion behind me.
"I don't want to carry these dumb rolls anymore!" Victoria says, practically shouting. I hear Lindsey yell a response back to her and then the sound of something hitting the grass. I turn around to see all the rolls of toilet paper on the grass and Victoria and Lindsey screaming at each other.
"Jesse, deal with this," I hiss angrily, "These children are giving me a headache."
Jesse walks over to the two and separates them.
"You both carry this shit or you're gone," He scares them into picking up the toilet paper off the grass. They both mutter under their breath, but Jesse threatens them again, finally getting them to shut up.
"Okay, Penelope here is a roll. You can begin to TP your home," I hand Penelope a roll of toilet paper with a smirk and a devious chuckle. She TPs the car first, which takes up a whole roll. Then she begins on the house itself by TPing the front and then the back. After she finishes TPing her house, I smile and look at her job well done. "Good Job," I snap a quick pic of the place before we start walking back.
On the walk home to my house, I call Dylan to make sure he wasn't at the house waiting for us. My phone rings as I call his repeatedly before I get his voicemail. "Hell, what is he doing right now?" I exclaim in anger. "Girls, we gotta speed it up getting to my place," I shout over to everyone. Afterward, we all speed up and make it back to the house in four minutes. "Well, he isn't here," I state, wondering where he could be.
"We were only gone for like 15 minutes. He should be here by now," Jenna says calmly, patting my back lightly.
"Well, he isn't here now. Saying he should be isn't helping. I know he should be here," I snap at Jenna. Jesse stands up and grabs some chips and salsa from my fridge and sets it out on the table for us.
"Chill out amigos. I'll call him. He always picks up for me," Jesse says as he tries to calm us down.
As Jesse was about to type in the final digit for Dylan's phone number, we hear a knock on the front door of the house. I walk over to the door, which is now being pounded on much harder. Damn, he's angry. I wonder why.
"Chill out, I'm coming!" I yell through the door as I unlock the several locks on the door. (My parents are so overly protective, I swear). As I finally get the last lock unlocked, my boyfriend, Dylan burst through the door.
"I'mmm here bitchessss!" He exclaims loudly.
"Yo, what the hell? What took you so long?" I ask, furious at him. My seemingly sweet mannered boyfriend turned to a devilish bastard under the influence of alcohol. I don't know why I keep up with him after all these years.
"I-I gots some beers andddd cigarettessss," he slurs his speech, indicating that he is most definitely drunk. How did he even manage to get drunk this quickly anyways? His ability to get drunk so quickly always seems to amaze me.
"Hey Amy, is that Dylan with the beer?" Jenna's boyfriend asks from the other room.
"Yeah, come in here and grab it. I'll be in there in a minute," I respond as I grab the packs of beer from Dylan's hands. Jesse, Jenna's boyfriend, comes out of the living room and grabs the packs of beer from my hands.
"Thanks," He winks at me and begins to guzzle down a bottle of cheap beer.
"You have a girlfriend and I have a boyfriend, you ass," I yell at him, making sure everyone could hear me. Dylan gives me a flirty look and grabs me on the butt, dismissing Jesse's remark at me.
"No Dylan, you need to go to sleep," I say to him. He grumbles something crude under his breath before I ask him for the cigarettes and his keys. I know I'm a rebel most times, but right now I needed to be a mom friend.
"No, these keysss are mine, bitchhh," he growls.
"Don't you take that tone with me. Give me the keys or we're breaking up," I threaten him.
"Whateverrr," he hands me the keys to his car and my cigarettes.
"Thank you, babe," I give him a quick peck on the lips, "let's get you upstairs and into bed."
I drag Dylan upstairs and into my bed.
"Don'ttt you wannnna join me?" He motions for me to get into bed with him.
"No, I'm sorry babe, you need your sleep. Rest up," I tuck him into bed. He gives me a grumpy look before quickly falling asleep. "Ugh, I need a smoke," I say to myself as I grab a cigarette from my jacket pocket. The cigarette rests in my mouth as I walk downstairs and into the living room. All my friends greet me with happy faces and laughs.
"Jesse told us about Dylan," Victoria giggles.
"Shut up newbie," I growl to her. I was in no mood to discuss my man-child of a boyfriend. Victoria stands up and walks over to me with a look on her face, meaning she wants to fight. Everyone looks at us like before, thinking I was going to fight her. Two almost fights in one night, how dumb. Newbies always want to fight me.
"I'm not going to fight you,Victoria, so sit the hell back down," I shout to her, "Actually, you know what every newbie except Penelope, leave now. I'm done with all of your shit. Penelope, you can consider this a warning, one wrong move and you're gone." I finally lost it. These girls are driving me insane. Victoria and Lindsey stand up without a word and leave before I get ever angrier.
Now I was left with only five guests to entertain. Penelope, Jesse, Jenna, Alexia, and another girl named Silvia are the ones left. "Any of you guys need a smoke?" I ask breaking the silence with the cig still hanging out of my mouth, unlit. Jesse and Jenna pull out their packs of cigarettes and stand up to join me. "Anyone else?" I ask once more. I know Penelope and Alexia don't smoke, but Silvia did. Penelope stands up and walks over to me.
"Sure, I'll take a smoke," she says to me.
I give her a surprised look before responding, "Sweetie, you don't smoke."
"There's a lot of things you don't know about me, sweetie," she grabs a cigarette from my pocket and puts it into her mouth.
"Well ok then. Let's go outside to smoke. I don't want my parent's house to smell like smoke," I step outside and lead my friends to the front lawn, leaving Silvia and Alexia inside to do whatever they please. "Over here guys," I direct them to a patch of grass on the ground as I sit down. Penelope and Jenna sit next to me as Jesse sits down across from me.
"Anyone got a match or lighter?" Penelope asks, switching the cigarettes position from in her mouth to in her hand.
"I got one," Jesse holds up a bright red lighter.
"Wait, guys, I'll be right back. I'm gonna go grab us some beer from inside," Jenna stands up and runs inside to grab us some beers, leaving her cigarette in the grass.
"I'm not waiting for her to just smoke my damn cigarette," Jesse snaps and he lights up his cigarette, forgetting to light Penelope's. The smell of cigarette becomes very noticeable as he takes a long slow drag from the cigarette and lets out a sigh of relief.
I snatch the lighter from his hands and light up my cig as well. I feel immediate relief as the smoke fills my lungs. I hear the sound of a door closing behind us and I turn around to see Jenna with four beers. She runs over to us and hands us each a beer.
"Thanks, babe," Jesse grabs a bottle opener out of his pocket and opens his beer.
"Hey open mine," I tell him. He grabs the bottle from my hand and pops off the cap for me. "Thanks," I say as I take another drag of my cigarette. Jenna grabs the bottle opener from Jesse and opens her bottle before chugging it down. Penelope sets down her unlit cigarette on the grass to open a bottle of beer. After she opens the beer, she takes a sniff and makes a disgusted face.
"What? You don't like beer?" Jenna mocks. Penelope smirks at Jenna before chugging down the beer in about 5 seconds. Everyone looks at her in shock as she stands up to go inside and grab another one.
"I'm gonna take a guess and say she likes beer," I give Jenna a quick smirk and I finish off my cigarette. I throw the cigarette into the nearby street and take a sip of my beer. "Blech, cheap beer is the worst," I mumble to them, "It doesn't even get you drunk." I pour a bit of the beer onto the ground, yet it still manages to splash a little bit on Jesse and Jenna.
"Oh come on man what the hell?" Jesse stands up and throws his cigarette into the street as well. Jenna does the same and she throws her halfway finished cigarette into the street. Penelope comes running back outside with more beer in her hands and she chugs them down.
"Whoa, slow it down girlie," I chuckle, "that stuff can't get you drunk unless you're a super lightweight." Penelope shook her head, refusing to stop and she chugs down two more bottles of beer.
"Well, I'm kind of a lightweight. And I want to get drunk," she says. Her cig still lays in the grass. I pick it up and put it in her pocket. I confiscate the other bottles of beer in her hands that she managed to balance.
"Penelope I'm gonna call you a cab so you can go home," I say as I begin to dial the number for a cab, "Jesse, Jenna you guys will have to leave too it's getting pretty late and someone needs to make sure she gets home safe." They nod their heads in agreement. It is somehow almost 12 and I am lucky my parents aren't home yet.
But before I go it inside, Jenna says something to me, "Don't forget, you have to take Sam Devon to the biggest party of the year. The party is this Friday if you don't remember."
"That only gives me two days!" I exclaim. I didn't realize how much time I had when I accepted the dare, but I do now.
"You already agreed, sorry sweetie," Jesse chimes in. I growl at the both of them as I step inside the building. This I practically impossible! He wouldn't ever say yes to me. He knows my reputation and he's smarter than they think, I think to myself as I walk up the stairs to my bedroom.
Oh wait! Silvia and Alexia are still downstairs! I run downstairs to see the two viciously making out on my couch.
"GUYS! What the hell! This isn't makeout point!" I separate the startled couple and push them out the door. "You guys are a cute couple, but do that in your own homes," I send my two friends off, so I can finally go to bed.
At least they cleaned up for me. I climb up the stairs for the second time. God, I wish I didn't accept that dumb dare. I know it's going to be on my mind all night. I'm going to be up all night thinking about how to do this. I hope I can get some sleep. I groan at the thought of having to take such a party pooper to such a great party.
When I finally make it up the stairs, I crawl into bed with Dylan at my side. My parents are going to kill me in the morning and I'm going to kill my friends for giving me such an awful dare. Dylan senses my presence and he wraps an arm around me, soothing my thoughts. Maybe I will be able to get some sleep tonight.
Eventually, I let my confusing thoughts coax to me sleep.
