Personal Narrative: Softball
From the chalked-up dirt to the fresh cut grass, a softball field is always a place I love to be. This is my 10th grade year and I still enjoy it just as much as the first day I started. Even though I play other sports, softball has still remained my favorite. My uniform colors are gold and black representing the Rams. I love the moment from when I put my uniform on and get on the field to give all my force to win my game. When I was younger there were no designated positions. We all just ran out on the field and ran out on the field and stopped wherever coach told us to. But the older I got and longer I played, I found that I loved catching. Being behind the plate was the ultimate place to be. For me, it was an adrenaline rush and the faster …show more content…
Constantly coaches on the other teams underestimated me just because of my size. I loved when they did that because it felt good to prove them wrong. I have a magazine article on my bedroom wall that says, “It’s not how big you are. It’s how big you play.” This has held true to me through every game I have ever played. I will remember this quote for the rest of my life. Softball means the world to me. Some may see it as just a sport, but to me it’s much more than that. Every time I step on the field I feel like I’m where I’m supposed to be. Perhaps my favorite thing about softball is that it’s an escape. Whatever is bothering me just doesn’t seem to matter anymore. My worries melt away as soon as I pick up a ball and glove. The field doesn’t judge you and no matter how many times you mess up, it still welcomes you back with open arms. Life can be cruel but in the end softball has always been there for me. A field doesn’t care who you are or what you have done. It just wants you to play the game you love. And that is exactly what I plan to do for the rest of my life. My number for softball is number three and that’s also always been my favorite number, my goal in life is to lead is to lead my kids the same was as I was

Hi, I’m Gabrielle. I’ve went downstate for a few things and one of the things I went down there for is softball. I really like to play softball. I have been playing since I was about 8 years old. When I started playing I became a pitcher. I wasn’t the best, but I kept practicing. I still pitch once in awhile, but it doesn’t interest me that much anymore. I prefer playing 1st base, 3rd base, or catcher. I got on the all star team the first year that I played. This year I got on the all star team and travel team. The all star team I played on won the district championship and we made it to states. We went all the way to Kalamazoo for the state championships. That was so much fun. I plan on playing softball for as long as I can. I also can’t wait till 9th grade so I can try out for the high school team! Another thing I’ve done is that I go down state with my friend Madyson sometimes. downstate for is going to Ann Arbor for a doctor’s appointment.…

The following morning, I skip bike practice again, but Doris goes anyway. At the office, Megan caters to me. On her way in, she stopped at Trader Joe’s to buy me a protein drink with antioxidants from Trader Joe’s, a bottle of chewable Vitamin C and a whole grain carrot muffin. I drink half the bottle and listen as she tells me, “Thom cancelled the development meeting, since he met with you the other day.”…

It was a chilly morning as the girls showed up to the field. There was a slight breeze, the noise of trees rustling and cleats on concrete filled the player's ears. The smell of hotdogs and hamburgers filled the girl’s noses as they were walking towards the field. They had home field advantage, and everyone knew they always won when they were home. The Infield Diamonds; they were the team to beat. With Julia, their star player at first base; Emily at second base; Hailey at shortstop; Mackenzie at third base;…

“You did not make the softball team” is a sentence I heard almost invariably. I had just moved to Texas, where I was thrust into a whole new world of sports. Athletes played year round, unlike the north where sport seasons were only six months long because of the cold, likewise, the competition was unlike anything I had ever seen. I tried out for over a dozen teams, from the very best to the very worst and did not make one. Inevitably, there was always a girl who was faster, stronger, and overall better than I was. I was eventually given a choice, to quit softball and pursue another hobby or continue to play softball and refuse to let others beat me. I choose the ladder.…

Adversity comes in all shapes and sizes, varying from person to person. We are all faced with different challenges to overcome and different obstacles to face. In the spring of 2016, the UNA Softball team faced many challenges before becoming National Champions. From beginning to end, the Lady Lions did not have it so easy, as many thought it seemed. With a 60-7 record we faced losses, not only on the field but off the field as well.…

Many people have had one person who has inspired them. They have changed their life very much the first day that they met. The person who has changed my life in the past couple years was my softball coach. She had us all work as hard as we could everyday. If we didn’t put in our best effort for a drill, she would have us start over and do it again. Coach Tash was motivated, committed, and helpful to everyone on the team.…

My accomplishments in softball were second team third baseman for my freshman and sophomore year and my junior year I got the first team utility player. I have got voted team captain in softball. In softball we had two coach changes, out first coach was Mr. Chavez and the coach currently is Mr. Torgeson. These two men have different coaching methods and it was very hard to adjust. Chavez was all about the hitting and Torg was all about bunting. There overall look at how the game is played are completely different from each other. Therefore when he had a coaching change it was a big shock for me. As a freshman, I played on the varsity team and I really loved getting to have that experience. I loved playing softball and I have played since I was about 5. In Softball I seem to always hurt myself, I have hip problems and I just recently had surgery on my wrist because of softball. Therefore I learned that you need to take care of yourself and work out to keep everything attached. You also need to practice hard to succeed because in my opinion, I think hitting a softball is super hard and you need lots of practice succeed. Softball is a great example of you will fail first before you succeed because in softball there is three strikes and you might not hit the first pitch but you can hit the next one. Therefore batting in softball you might fail first before he succeed. “Never let the fear of striking out get in your…

One sport that got my eye was baseball my senior. I love the feeling of having to be out on the on the field saying nothing but chewing gum or spitting out sunflower seeds. Having to make quick actions that can win or prevent the enemy from scoring. Having to go up to bat I always had a game face. If I took a swing and would miss I would close my eyes in failure to ashamed to look at my coach and team. However if I had got a base hit I would run not looking anywhere but to the base…

Sports should be a part of everybody’s lifestyle. There are many different types of sports, from combat sports to snow sports or even water sports, but the best type of sports are physical. One of the most outstanding physical sports is softball. Softball can be played by female athletes at many different levels. For example, travel softball, one of the most advanced ways to play, is played by elite girls between the ages of nine and twenty-three. Travel softball is a better opportunity than summer league softball because it makes any softball player a better athlete and more social by getting the opportunity to meet new people, play softball all year round, and experience more recruitment options.…

Sitting in the locker room today, packing up my bags for the last time, it made me realize that my softball career is actually over. I just wanted to thank everyone who has had an impact on my softball career first starting with my parents, brothers, and other family members. Second my coaches throughout this whole journey. And third to all my teammates that I have had over the years. Those friendships are what got me through the tough times and great times. I am honored to be able to say I was a softball player at West Stanly for 4 years. For the ones who are still playing, give it your all, turn teammates into your friends, and always cherish each and every chance you get to play on that field. It's crazy how much time flies so just make…

Every single day I was outside either playing catch or working out. I remember at the time I was playing for the St Louis Sting, I continued the season to have the most innings pitched, lowest earned run average, second highest batting average, most doubles, most strike outs, and I also pitched my first no-hitter. Without having the dedication or motivation none of this could have happened. I went from playing catch once a week to everyday. I also would continue on and play baseball at Parkway South High School and lead that season in strikeouts. As I grew older I started to realize that I have the capability to play baseball for the rest of my life and that's something that is unexplainable. To be able to do something you love to do for the rest of your life is remarkable to me. I get that all because of a game.…

It helped me to achieve a better understanding on effort, and how you should repeatedly strive to exceed what people think is your best.…
