Over the four years, I have become close with many golfers whom I’ve caddied for numerous times. They depend on me to guide them in certain situations such as choosing between two clubs or reading a putt. I have also discovered that many of the members are interested in my life and future plans. We’ve discussed many topics, ranging from colleges and career paths to more lighthearted subjects, such as favorite sports teams and musical artists. One thing I have learned during my time as a caddie is that adults love to make conversation with others, especially high schoolers. Many golfers have given me advice about college and tips for choosing a career path. They are genuinely interested and want to help me succeed. Many were helped themselves as teenagers, and want to return the favor. This dialogue between a golfer and his caddie is a fantastic networking opportunity. Golfers have told me contact them when I’m ready to work as an intern. Others have put me in touch with people in various fields, whom I can contact with questions about a particular career path. Often when I run into members around town, they will inquire about my college search and the rest of my senior year. My network has grown tremendously and I am very proud. It has opened doors and presented opportunities that would have never been available if I was not employed as a
