Personal Narrative: A Career As A Baseball Player
I started playing baseball at grade 5 because of the influence of the CPBL, the professional baseball league in Taiwan. In comparison to other players in my little league team, I was an inexperienced rookie. The first three weeks of the season were training and drills, the coach discovered that I had a good pitching arm during that time. That sparked my dream of being a professional pitcher.

My rookie season started out well, I was named starter for a number of times and I consistently delivered good outcomes. Aside from pitching, my defence was top notch as well but my batting was poor. There are only two outcomes when I get to the plate, a walk or a strikeout. I got only one double (and nothing better) for the entire season. As the season moves on, my pitching got better and better. I started more often and even got to pitch as the closer. Then it turned south.

I had no time to play baseball because of the “Chinese Style Education”.

I moved back to Canada at Grade 10 and joined the Richmond Chuckers Gold AA team. Although we were not the best team, we had a solid, all round roster. That is one of the reason why I am applying to Beedie School of

First off, playing URICRA baseball for three years were some of the most fun years of my life, but they also helped me develop as a player. Over that three year span, I developed as a leader, and those three teams all won over half of their games. URICRA also allowed me to get into umpiring, I now umpire almost thirty games a year. I have umpired for baseball, softball, and flag football, but I mainly umpire baseball games. URICRA helped me become the baseball player, the umpire, and the leader I am…

My dad was in the United States Air Force for 20 years. I was born in England. After being there for a three years my father was stationed in Florida. While in Florida, I remember playing soccer as a child. The team I played for ended up and playing at the city championship game. I was only seven years old then. When I turned eight my father was again sent to Japan. While in Japan, I played baseball for two different teams. The one team I played for was for little league only when we played fellow American teams. The other team I played for we traveled all over Japan playing Japanese children. It was a lot of fun playing against other cultures and learning about them and their sportsmanship. The first time I played against them, I never saw a curve ball thrown before. Not only did I have to learn how to play baseball, but I also learned good…

Growing up I played baseball to me baseball was everything i could think of. i couldn't wait to the weekend so i could put on that dirty uniform and pick up the new bat and nice leather glove and play baseball. When i was young i played in a big park in NYC where everyone saw you play so as i grew up everyone expected me to continue playing baseball and get better and work hard my mother always signed me up for baseball and i met a lot of coaches who help me gain more talent throughout the years. So as i grew up baseball started to be more and more of a priority to me i went to baseball practice two times a week one during the week and one on the weekend and with baseball practice i attended a baseball program which is twice a week meaning less and less time for homework and time to study. that being said i believe that time management and dealing with less and less sleep is the biggest problem with high school sports.…

Instead, I used that disappointment to work even harder. I knew that even though I could work hard I could and still not play, I was going to make myself proud. I was not going to rely on the validation of my teammates and coaches to realize that I was giving them my all on and off the field. I become the best teammate that I could be. I made sure I was on the fence and at the front of the dugout every game so I could cheer loudly for my teammates. When I saw someone make a great play or her hustle was outstanding, I made sure to recognize them. If my coach threw me in to run, I made sure I was the smartest and fastest base runner out…
