Personal Narrative: The Hobie Cat
It was Saturday, the day I was waiting for. It was the day of the fourth of July party. I was so excited about all the people coming to the beach, the food, the jetty, and the swimming. I was most excited for Goodie my dad's friend to come with his Hobie Cat. The Hobie Cat is a sailboat with two pontoons with a strong fabric in between them.
When Goodie arrived and the wind was strong my friend Gena and I would ask to go on the hobie cat and of course my brother Bertram and his friend Jake would too. So it was set, we were all going on the Hobie together. When Gena and I had our life jackets on and Jake and Bertram got on the boat, we were set Goodie started by asking us if we wanted to go on the trapeze (a wire that holds you up by a special harness) and of course we did. While Gena went on while Bertram, Jake and Goodie managed the boat below. Gena and I thought it would be fun to see how long each of us could stay on the pontoons. Gena was technically cheating because she can balance well and I'm not as graceful.. But the real trouble happened when my pontoon started going a few inches under water. I was so freaked out that I started moving forward to get away from the water but that made it worse. Now the front of the boat was tipping. I was so scared. Gena was on my left laughing her butt off.

When we went back on the boat I grabbed the rope and she grabbed the other rope and we went off. Jake told Bertram about a line under the net near the pontoons called the “dolphin striker rod” that you can hang from it under the net when he brought that up to Bertram I almost let go of the rope.. I started angrily stuttering about how that was dangerous and how they couldn't do it. But while I was talking they sat on the pontoons and slid off onto the bar and into the water. I stopped talking just long enough to see them get in. I was furious. but I couldnt help from

Language has played a big role in making my life successful. As senior year was ending I had a major life changing decision. I was unsure whether to pursue my passion of baseball in California, or to hang up my cleats for the last time on a high note. Although this was not a life or death decision, It was still a decision that was still near and dear to my heart. After going to several people for help and many sleepless nights, I still felt helpless. I finally came to the conclusion after hearing "The Babe" in the movie Sandlot tell Benny Rodriguez, "Everybody gets one chance to do something great. Most people never take the chance, either because they're too scared, or they don't recognize it when it spits on their shoes." that’s when I decide…

It all started about three or four years ago when my friend or as some people may consider her as my sister invited me to go for two weeks to a beach house for the fourth of july with her family. As soon as the sun was up we hit the road for about five or six hours until we finally arrived to cayucos which in this case was next to moral bay where ¨finding dory was filmed¨. As soon as the car stopped we ran out the car and started running towards the ocean as you hear the waves smashing towards each other. Looking up you can see pelicans flying free and the warmness of the sun hugging your skin. After spending time out on the beach xitclalli and I decided that we should go inside and see our bedrooms we…

My sister and I, confident in our brother’s competence to control the jet-ski gave the green light on going full force into the obscenely turbulent deep waters, the area in which we were instructed by the instructor to not head to. At first, the mighty jet-ski cut through the choppy waters with great vigor that exemplified its magisterial personality. It pierced the choppy waters with ease only leaving behind white foam, residue of its power. Yet the ocean ultimately conjured a wave so massive and a gust with such force that the once powerful, commanding jet-ski was brought to its knees as it flipped over in blind obedience to the strength of the waves. After emerging from the water, we stuck together as we waited patiently for the lifeguards to come to our rescue. My toe was unaffected and my body relished in the cold, refreshing waters of the Atlantic as we were at the mercy of the winds and water, relying only on the buoyancy of our life jackets. The waves were big enough to submerge us often for a few seconds before spitting us out as if it was due to the unpleasant taste of the life jacket. I cracked jokes, with most of them being compromised of puns I made on the spot to describe our situation to ease the tension. We all laughed at how my sister had lost her slipper thanks to the jet-ski flipping over and tried our best to not have the…

I threw my bait back in along the opposite bank, hoping to snatch the big one. Reggie threw in his line and we both sat there and talked for about an hour, then Reggie got bored so he reeled his line in, threw his bait out into the river and went down the bank and started messing around in the sand. I later got bored myself so I climbed down and started digging a tunnel in the sand without even thinking to reel my pole in. We were messing around in the sand, making an underground tunnel when I heard a splash, I looked up and saw my pole flying over our heads and into the water. I raced after knowing it was a huge catfish and it was taking my dad’s best pole. I kept stepping on rocks, holes and weeds and they were tearing my feet up, but I had to get that pole back. It was around 100 yards before I caught my pole, I grabbed it and pulled up to set the hook. I knew this fish was big it just kept pulling and pulling out the drag. Then I pulled up and started reeling when the line went slack I thought the line popped so I just stood there, then Reggie showed up and I told him the line popped so I started reeling then the pole flew down and went with it into the water. I felt like I was flying down stream when I hit a bank and pulled the pull back and stood…
