My greatest influences are my parents and my brother. My brother suffered from Guillain- Barre Syndrome when he was eight. He lived in the hospital on an artificial ventilation for 97 days and later he had to continue physical therapy for at least ten years as he was completely paralyzed. My parents and my brother devoted their few years completely for his treatment. Today, my brother is a successful engineer working in the bay area. I learned that with dedication, determination and diligence we can achieve our dream in life…

Amy Tan was born in Oakland, California, in 1952, and now lives with her husband, tax lawyer Louis DeMattei, in San Francisco. The Joy Luck Club was her first and perhaps most well known book. It brought her great success and made her name known around the world. The book was made into a movie by director Wayne Wang, which Tan produced and wrote the screenplay for. Tan 's other novels include The Kitchen God 's Wife, The Bonesetter 's Daughter and The Hundred Secret Senses. Much of the content of her books is autobiographical. Tan has said that Kitchen was written after Joy because her mother, Daisy, complained that people thought Suyuan from Joy was based on her. She urged Tan to write the true story of her life. Though much of the book is fictionalized, Kitchen does contain the details of Tan 's mother 's life: her twelve-year-long bad marriage (she told Amy she might even kill her first husband if she ever saw him again); her life during the war; the children she lost. In her stories, Tan blends Eastern and Western…
What makes this organization stand out is that it really works. It is proven to show outstanding progress and change. Anyone who decides to do this and follow it correctly will have the most strength, power, physical performance and health they have seen in themselves. If I was…
Once the organization was established, they were able to specialize to meet many of the needs of the people in their community. After reviewing how the organization was established and how it has worked in a 40 year period, it is clearly seen that the organization has been able to keep the doors open and providing…
Walking into the locker room about to get ready to go to our last football game of the season. I could smell the sweaty equipment from the kids who never take their pads home. The Hempfield Spartans 7th grade team would be ending their season 0-7 if we didn’t win today. As I was changing into my pads my friend mike walked in the room. I said “you ready for tonight”. “Heck yeah” replied Mike.…
Now I’m going to talk about my positive traits. I like helping people, if there is something I can do, I will do it. I believe that when you do something good for other people you get two things 1, the satisfaction of helping and two, God will reward you for the good action. According to my family I’m a joyful person I’m always smiling and making people laugh. Like I said in the beginning, I don’t like showing people my weaknesses and that includes when I’m sad or depress. I prefer keeping it all to myself and act like everything is okay. I put others first than me, I think that is something good because it doesn’t make me a selfish person. Another positive trait that I will always be thankful to my parents is showing me good manners and to…
When going through anything or high school in general you want to be a good example and do something great for your school. I think this organization makes an impact on the students,…
Back when I was in Kweilin, people did not think about the fancy cars that make the putt-putt-putt sound or the mortgage on their house. Their worst troubles were their children’s moans of hunger. Most people only dreamed of their next meal. Everybody had humility, all these Chinese people bound under the same problems, all of them having to work hard. Even though they were so different, they learned to cooperate and work together.…
In chapter 12, the key event to me was when Claudia and Finn talked to each other through the keys. I felt many emotions when reading their interaction one of them being happy. I felt happy when they talked to each other because it was a turning point in the story in my opinion. I also felt surprised because at first, I thought by having two keys, there would be a lock that would need both keys to hear and speak to each other. I also felt confused by the way they conversed; How could they now hear each other but not before. I think by having one key being touched, the other key can hear because on page 153 Claudia says she breathed and rubbed on the key making it warm and on page 154 Finn says when he touches the key it's warm.I like the way the author wrote the scene from both perspectives, it gave us the readers a clearer understanding of how both Finn and Claudia felt. I also like how the author described the way both keys affect each other and have a "key" connection.…

As I began this journey, I had no idea how many tears would be shed, Pepto Bismol would be consumed, or how many gray hairs would appear. A simple thank you does not seem sufficient enough to express how I feel for the people who have come into my life to share this arduous journey.…
Trying new activities especially if it is something different from my own culture is what I have always wanted to do because I have this curiosity to explore what is around me. I have done many different activities and have experienced cultural diversity, but this time was a little different. A friend of mine suggested me to go with him to visit American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco last week where there was a musical show called “ The Unfortunates”. Personally, it is the first time me attending theatrical performance in the United States. At that time, I was wondering where to go for this assignment because it requires cultural visitation, so I thought that would be the perfect one since it is the first time. However, my friend and…
Growing up in a sheltered lifestyle, not worrying about were my next meal would arrive from, or whether if I was going to live throughout the night was never on my mind until I learned from the experiences of the people throughout my missionary trip in India. It was an unforgettable experience that altered my life, and left a lasting impression on me. I had volunteered at a psychiatric housing home which housed over hundred plus people who were all mental ill. My missionary group and I had spent a month living with the patients, assisting them in any way possible, but most importantly seeing their point of view on life through their eyes.…
