Personal Narrative: The Lion King
What separates human from beast is man's ability to innovate. As human beings we are able to communicate through hundreds of languages, create with our hands and think beyond the capabilities previously set by our ancestors. We are always expressing ourselves through new mediums of our own design, and one of the most beautiful, and personal to me is Theatre. If a picture is worth a thousand or in this case 500 words, then the value of a script is immeasurable. There are endless capabilities to what the human mind can imagine and bring life to, while a picture is limited to what is already created on this earth. Theatre, is the most beautiful art form I have ever come across because it brings the hearts of people together. Play writes are given …show more content…
I have only touched the surface of how many people come together to create the final product; a beautiful story that looks effortless despite the panic and adrenaline happening backstage. This picture, is the epitome of collaboration. Technically, artistically and emotionally, The Lion King was the first show that sparked a desire to douse myself in the wonder an audience feels as the curtain closes. For seventeen years, I only thought about how I could fit into the realm of Broadway and how it benefited my creative mind. Now looking at this picture, every ounce of happiness I felt watching this show was brought back and it kills me to think there are people who have not experienced that. Other countries are not as fortunate as we are in the United States. In third world areas, children my age face life and death struggles every single day, and the biggest decision I made that day was what T-shirt design I was going to get. In a world revolving around material gain and personal advancement, this beautiful craft has given me the strength to fight for people I haven't even

This Broadway play has been around for a long time. It captured people’s attention from the clothes they wore, to the beautiful melody from Frankie Valli. This play is set in the 1960’s; it is based on Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons. Through a musical it talks about their lives, where they grew up, and the struggles they went through to get to fame. They came from nothing, living in a poor area, in a little shack house, to fame and wealth. Their sweet voices took them far in life, accomplishing many of their goals, to scoring not one but a couple hit songs like, “Sherry,” “Big Girl’s don’t cry,” “Can’t Take My Eyes Off Of You,” “Oh What a Night,” and so on. When I first walked in I didn’t know what to expect, except hearing how good this play was. My thoughts were a boring play to sit through and get it over with but it captured my eyes from the moment they started singing. Their unique voices were so calm, sweet and inviting that you wanted to just listen or sing along but never was there a dull moment. Not only was the music capturing but the clothes and the colorful set opened up your eyes. They chose the right setting, the perfect performers to make this show a phenomenon. Looking at everyone’s faces how they were enjoying themselves and people just not taking their eyes off the set really showed you that this performance was a hit. Seeing a group accomplish so much from where they came from sets the right message to those who are in the same situation. Not only is this an amazing show but also an inspirational story to many who do not have the money to go far with their gifts but can work hard and still accomplish what they did. Showing that life is not all about money but that you can still do what you love if you follow your dream and work your way…

Usually when you tell someone you don’t want to do something, you expect them to just understand and walk away. Even though I had been asked multiple times if I had read “The Hunger Games” the answer was still no. And then I continued on saying that I didn’t want to read it...ever. It had become too popular and I just wasn’t interested in joining the great phenomenon that was “The Hunger Games.” I didn’t see the point. That was my stubborn attitude about the subject until my eleventh birthday when I received a gift I wasn’t expecting.…

Giving people an escape for an hour or two is how I’m trying to positively influence the world now. Sharing the wisdom of a play with an audience creates a very genuine experience that virtually erases the line between performers and observers because both indulge in the moment. Barnard’s Theater program gives me the opportunity to reach out to more people, and learn in one of the most artistic cities in the world. I have a gentle demeanor but my will is strong. Barnard nurtures girls with unstoppable determination, and I believe that I stand in the same category. They produce women who take on the world and change it for the…

It was impossible, there was no sword in the rock, nothing. I instantly knew just who had it. Back at the tourney, I decided on confronting the child and the knight that had the blade. But the sword was now just a normal blade exactly like mine. Was I insane? No, I knew what I had seen. I knew there was a ornate golden blade. I scanned the surrounding area searching for a sign of where the golden blade and the knight where. Finally I decided to just go down and run between the tents that held armour and weapons for the soldiers, and then finally the actual tourney. I then noticed the child returning looking prouder than ever. I confronted him trying to look like a stalwart knight. But I´d say I looked more like a coward, so he just ignored…

Throughout my life I have encountered many circumstances that have shaped me into the person I am today. I was born in Moroleon, Guanajuato, Mexico. I attended school in Mexico all the way to second grade. In the summer of 2006 I moved to Cumming, Georgia. It was the hardest thing to do because I left everything that I care the most about. We lived in a trailer which was not the nicest place and in the middle of the forest. I started school at the beginning of August. I had always loved school so I was so excited for the first day. I knew it was going to be hard because I would have to conquer so many obstacles on the way. At this time the only English I knew was probably counting from one to ten and some of the colors. My Father knew some…

Football has always been a big part of my life. As a young boy I would day dream of making insane touchdowns, making tackles that would leave man stuck in the ground, and even winning the heisman trophy. In 7th grade I had begged my mother endlessly to sign me up for pee wee football because she would always worry about the risks of football. After finally getting her to sign me up, we went straight into the season. I chose to play running back because as a 12-year-old I was remarkably fast having timed 5.3 in the 40 yard-dash. After a few weeks in the season we approached the playoffs and found out our opponent for the first round of the playoffs were the jaguars who were undefeated. Our team didn’t have the best chemistry on…
