Personal Narrative: The Redwood Forest
Although I have only been living in this house for 2 years and possibly only have two years left to live in it, I still consider this my home. I have a wonderful first lady and an extraordinary son, Bart. Although I love my job, it does come with some disadvantages. My first priority is to make the United States citizens content by improving our country. The most controversial decision, since being in office, is whether to cut down the Redwood forest in San Francisco, California for paper products or to keep the forest as a national park. My associates believe that the government should cut down the forests and I reluctantly agreed. After signing off on this proposal, I anxiously waited for someone to publish the story to see how people would …show more content…
The trees have completely taken over the east coast and were making their way to the Redwood Forest. We would see trees stomp and fall onto people’s houses, schools, banks, and other important buildings. We all split up to try and let the people know that we have our best people out there trying to stop them. I stopped by those houses affected and talk to the families. The families told us that they built little tunnels out of the uprooted trees in the ground to protect themselves when they come to try and destroy anything in sight. They start explaining to me that they have not eaten in 2 days when we all start to shake. Three trees start roaring right behind me and I screamed for everyone to run. We all ducked down into the closest tunnel while the trees took everything from the village that had lived there. Some people didn’t make it to the tunnels and were taken by the trees just like my son. We don’t know where they are being put and what is happening to them while they are there. Everyday My wife and I wake up hoping to hear the news of the return of Bart. I got a call from a van that has made it all the way to Las Vegas, Nevada. They had called to let me know that everything was cleared out and many people were taken or …show more content…
My wife and others of authority are starting to go around giving out rations of food and water. I was walking on the street carrying bags of clothes, food, and water when a tree came up behind me. As I was turning around, I realized it wasn’t like the others. It was much taller and rounder than the ones I’ve seen. It isn’t trying to take me or hurt me, but it just simply reaches out its branches and drops me down an apple. I knew he wanted peace so I sit down to hear if he has something to say. He is telling me that all they want is not to be cut down and taken away from the ones they love. He also is telling me that he was the one to order the outbreak to show how it feels to be ripped apart at anytime and never be seen again. I’ve never thought about the feelings of trees when we rip them down for our own selfish reasons. He agrees to return all the people that he took and go back to the roots where he came from if we simply don’t cut them down for the paper production. A smile begins to stretch upon my face as I know I will be reunited with my son at last. The big tree reaches down his branches and I trustingly hop on. He brings me back to the White House where it all began. I order everyone that lives in the house or works for the cabinet and government branches to report to the White House for an important meeting. When everyone finally all meets there, I announce that we will be

Have you had any volunteer experiences and, if so, what did you like about participating? Give at least one example of what you liked. I have volunteered with Canterbury United Methodist Church on a mission trip and the Birmingham Zoo. When I volunteered with Canterbury, we went on a mission trip to Asheville, North Carolina for a week during the summer. I had the opportunity to travel to another city, in a different state, to help those who are less fortunate and live in harsh conditions. Seeing the harsh conditions that some people live in was very eye-opening for me because it really made me realize how fortunate, not only I, but the rest of my community is. I loved helping the people in Asheville because I knew that it is something they…

My significant event is about my sixth grade trip to the Woodlands. It was right before the school day started, and the sky was blue and clear. After everyone was accounted for, it was a brief bus ride up the road to the Woodlands. Although I was nervous about going, that all went away because it was a beautiful day to bask in the woods, and socialize. The first day we were there, we were initiated, and we had to create woodsey nicknames for ourselves. We all hung out together outside the Mess Hall and enjoyed the sun.…

On our trip to Cedar Glen, I learned numerous things that will benefit me in the future and assist me in making crucial decisions. One of the things I learned is group dynamics and working with other people. My group participated in various activities, such as logs and marshmallows, which taught us that we shouldn’t just focus on ourselves when completing a task, but also everybody in our group. In both logs and marshmallows, our group made sure each person reached the other side instead of just themselves, which the reason why we accomplished the activity is that we worked together as a team. I also learned that in a group, there could be people who lead a task, maintain a group, or focus on themselves. In low ropes and high ropes, we learned…

I was a camp counselor at Camp Wabikon ‒ a co-ed overnight summer camp located in Temagami, Ontario for children who are 6-15 years of age. Along with teaching Red Cross swimming and lifesaving and Tennis, I was my cabin's 'parent' for six weeks. Therefore, I was present with the children at all times. In essence, I was the leader of my cabin's the physical, social and mental development. The main things I learned were the importance of time management and organization , as I had to plan lessons for swimming and Tennis while taking care of my cabin; conflict resolution between campers; and the ability to plan and foresee events (I had to plan camp-wide events and activities for all campers).…

The trail continued around the east side of the lake entering a gathering of trees forming an insignificant forest along the lake’s shoreline. From our viewpoint, the trees concealing the trail eventually dispersed on the southeast side of the lake, and the trail blended into the landscape. Using our imagination, we envisioned the route against the rugged terrain sloping into the lake. No point in taking a vote now, we had trekked to the lake and the consensus was to proceed with a lap around the lake.…

Everyone has their own community or organization for which they belong to. Within that community you tend to find who you are and what you are about. For me I found my identity in being an outdoors man. Being an outdoors man at my young age seems to be rare at this day, but that doesn’t prevent me from doing something I love and appreciate. Growing up with my family full of avid outdoors men helped influence me and only made my identity stronger.…

My family crest is centered around three subjects: Family, Faith, and Life. All three subjects are divided by colors, the colors all having a special meaning behind them. Family is symbolized by a heart due to the amount of love I have for my relatives. Faith is symbolized by a cross, because the cross represents Christianity. Life is symbolized by a globe, because the amount of life on earth is innumerable. My family crest overall is kid themed, as portrayed by the vast variety of colors. The background of the actual crest is the Mexico flag, thus representing my heritage. Therefore, the colors and symbols shown on the board simply make up my entire life.…

I've never been an "outdoors" experience kind of person. Maybe, it's because I'm very sedentary and prefer to stay inside to read and enjoy tranquility. I avoid all types of chaos and crowded places. Nevertheless, my visit to the Camuy River Cave Park (back in 2004) was refreshing and enriching in knowledge, historically, scientifically and spiritually. That experience brought the best out of me, as a human being and a nature lover, by giving the chance of experiencing a whole new level of peace and tranquility.…

When I was ten years old, my parents told me we were moving the California. I was absolutely thrilled. California was purely an abstract and conceptual mirage-type of place, too far away to know where it was, and too far away to really understand. The magical land of celebrities, skyscrapers and colossal burgers. A place where everything was possible, where dreams could actually become true, and where you had the ability to do what you wanted and be happy. This naive and unrealistic vision of California has affected my childhood so much that it is, in many aspects, still is part of me today. I discover new things everyday about this place with the same childish enthusiasm that I did the first day I arrived. I still gasp everytime I see the Hollywood sign, enjoy going to…

On the second day of school during my sophomore year, I realized how much Wahlert meant to me. It had become my home, the place where I felt like I belonged; school almost even seemed like a break from summer. Over the summer, I had become an empty shell and spent my time at the computer wasting the time away; the only interactions I had were with my family, and on rare occasion with my best friends, when we had sleepovers. To see the people I had missed over the summer was great. All of these things felt so true in that moment.…

The sound of the ocean is a form of relaxation but for me, I like to call it home. Ventura is a small county located in the southern part of the California and for the past twenty-two years it has been my sanctuary. The other two years of my life I spent in a smaller town called Irapuato, Guanajuato, Mexico. This was my birthplace and home to my parents until they made the decision of migrating directly to Ventura County. Within Irapuato City, there are small ranchos or ranches, located on the outskirts of town and at our rancho, we would raise pigs, goats, cows and, sheep. Surrounding our rancho there are acres of land, where we plant fruits and vegetables to consume and sell to our little community. Life in Mexico is much more rural than…
