Personal Narrative: My Family Rainforest
My family crest is centered around three subjects: Family, Faith, and Life. All three subjects are divided by colors, the colors all having a special meaning behind them. Family is symbolized by a heart due to the amount of love I have for my relatives. Faith is symbolized by a cross, because the cross represents Christianity. Life is symbolized by a globe, because the amount of life on earth is innumerable. My family crest overall is kid themed, as portrayed by the vast variety of colors. The background of the actual crest is the Mexico flag, thus representing my heritage. Therefore, the colors and symbols shown on the board simply make up my entire life.

The entire crest has a kid theme to it, only due to the fact that my family adores children. My parents would do anything they possibly could to help children, whether it be sheltering them in our home for a few weeks or taking them a sack lunch every day. My sister has now taken over my old duty as the children’s choir supervisor and I volunteer regularly at Katherine Sage Temple day care out of Diboll. My families love for children will never cease, this being why it is the major theme of the entire crest.
Although the colors behind the three themes have a meaning towards the individual theme it is under, when put all together it makes the country of Mexico’s flag. This was added to my family crest just to include a little bit about my ethnicity. Overall, my family crest embroiders all aspects of my life specifically. My family, faith, and the little things in life are what bring me the most bliss and comfort for all the days to

The pairing of the antelope crests actually represents the union between men and women to produce new generations, many crests are worn in male/female pairs, and between sun and earth to produce new crops. This crest would have been quite valuable to historians because it exhibits the Bamana connection to wildlife and harvest. This artwork is simplistic and, just by seeing it, its animal representation can be inferred. The crest, which is dark and has sharp edges, features one antelope with a smooth back, the mother, and one with a sharp back, the child/calf. It is clear that the calf is the second antelope because of its size and how its “fur” is jutting out; antelope calves have fur that stands up slightly while adults have smooth fur. Unfortunately the amount of information that can be acquired past deep thought, inference, and the given information is limited. Though the Bamana peoples’ connection to animals and nature is clear, without the information provided it is unknown that this crest would have been worn in dance. The Ci Wara dance crest offers historians a glimpse into the daily lives and rituals of the Bamana…

The lion stands strong and commands respect from others around its kingdom. In this way, making it perfect for the main symbol of our tribe.
