The smiles the gypsies had while they danced and felt the music almost created a sense of free spirit about them. It was contagious and I could not help but to dance along with them. The Renaissance Festival is one of the most interesting places I had the opportunity to visit as a child. Located in the Plantersville, Texas, this amazing place is not that far away from my hometown.

magical place often, in hopes of keeping me entertained for a fun weekend. It soon became a family tradition to go at least one weekend a year.
I have attended the Renaissance Festival every year since I was two years old. With or without my parents, I always find a way to make time for this magical get away. The reason I loved visiting this place as a child was not much of a surprise. My family and friends have always labeled me as creative and with all the beautiful art and music I was easily intrigued. Between the romantic rose gardens and the extremely detailed sculptures I found myself lost in the moments.
One of my most memorable moments of the Renaissance Festival was this guy dressed in baggy leather tied bottoms, which walked around with two long whips. As a crowd approached, he continued to prepare the whips with some sort of liquid substance.
Before I knew it, he had completely torched the whips and started doing the craziest stunts with them. I was blown away between the popping of balloons and snipping of flowers with these whips. With every stunt he gave the history behind the whips. He went into detail about the year that the whips were invented, to the renowned men known in history to use them in wars.
Every year when I had my bags full of little things I had bought through out the day, I still found myself sad to leave the festival grounds. As you would walk out at
night you would walk upon a crowd of men and women dressed in barbarian attire with torches. As scary as that sounds, it was actually rather the opposite of that. The crowd would be huddled up and singing old music in tune with each other. You could hear them from the distance due to how deep and loud the men’s voices sounded. They would sing their farewell’s to us as we made our way back to our vehicles. It was always insane to me how just going to a little area with these people would bring out the biggest imagination in anyone. With the accents to the clothes, it was easy to get caught up in the moment and magic. With every trip I took, I brought so much knowledge back home with me. The historic diversity has affected me to this day. The Renaissance Festival is a fun way to learn your history of art, music, and fashion.
