Personal Narrative: What I Did This Summer
What I wish I did this summer
Something I wanted to do this summer was sleep more. If I would have slept more I would’ve been happier. I also wish I could have spent the night at my aunts and uncles house more. I wish I could’ve tanned more also. I wish I could’ve played, hiked and swam more. I also wish I could’ve ridden horses more. This summer I rode my cousins four wheeler and wish I could have done it more. My brother went paintballing this summer and I’m sad I couldn’t tag along. Also this summer my uncle took my brothers and I shooting I took my 22 and my uncle took his 22 and his pistol. I was terrible but I wish I could’ve shot more and done better.
I also four wheeled a lot with my cousins and uncle we went up

Further, regret often comes when looking back on opportunities not seized. There are many things I wish I would have done, or tried, or stuck with throughout life. As a child, I was involved in dance and piano. Upon reflection, if I could do it again, I would have stuck with these things even though a fifth grade version of me saw it as overwhelming and impossible. With years of weekly lessons, these traits would no longer be difficult.…

I would have played with dolls a little longer. In addition, wore less make-up and no high-heel shoes. I also would worry less about the number of friends I had or who I was dating. I would have listened more to my parents because they knew more than I could have. All of the things that did not benefit me would be reduced or eliminated. Wow, how different my life would be if all this was possible? Despite the ill feelings and setbacks, I do not regret my past. The choices I made molded me into the person I am today. God has a plan for me, and all along he was guiding me toward this road I am on today. I have a beautiful family of my own and will achieve a bachelor’s degree in business management this December. Most importantly, I feel I can be a role model for my children and provide opportunities to allow them to become successful individuals. Moreover, I can continue to guide them to achieve the highest educational experience possible. Today, I can proudly say I have learned many life lessons and wise beyond my…

Drenched in sweat and trying to avoid touching anything made of metal, I stood in the back of the dump truck shoveling mulch into a wheelbarrow. The temperature outside was in the upper nineties reaching for triple digits. I could see heat waves coming off of the scorched ground, but I didn’t have time to pay attention to any of that. We had a task to finish and we would see to it no matter what obstacles mother nature or life in general would throw our way. This is the mentality that working in landscaping every summer throughout high school taught me.…

Starting the summer team was great, my coach trusted me and played me probably more than anyone on the team, if we were in a hard situation like, going to play a hard team, I got the chance to face them. The summer was going great. The trip to West Virginia, College coaches like me, they talked to me about playing for them, and this was also only my junior year and at the end of the year I was the number 1 on the team in pitching stats. Now the end of the summer, school was about to start for my senior year I started thinking about not leaving the states to play baseball, I wanted to stay in Florida because I thought, I was good enough. At this point my summer coach was no longer at my high school, he was fired from his position because of…

The puzzle pieces were starting to scatter apart when I got notified by my second grade teacher that I had to take that recuperation exam for math class. It wasn't a surprise, back then I wasn’t that efficient at math. I needed support, so I took tutoring in math courses for about a month and studied the whole content that I took for my second grade year. If I didn’t pass that test I knew I would be unsatisfied. That way I feel it’s worse than summer school. That's how it is in my country, which takes place in Honduras. I would say it’s tougher, based on the fact that there is major pressure. Besides, who would desire to repeat a school year over again? Definitely not me , I speculated.…

Summer 2010 was great for me. I did a lot of stuff this summer and hung out with a lot of friends but the highlight was riding to Wasco every Saturday morning. I would meet up with Chris Impson and we would usually hang out for the whole day. I live in St. Charles so I would have a 8 mile ride down there and sometimes we would ride bikes all the way back to my house so it was quite the work out. Other days I would ride my bike to Wasco and meet up with Christopher then ride to another friends house and spend the day there. I am really satisfied with the way my summer went. I did more than just saw friends though, I went to Wisconsin, spent a week in Missouri by myself, and rode dirt bikes on our farm. While I was in Missouri I did a lot like help my Grandpa out and played a lot of baseball.…

June-August- Summer Break, just ordinary things, going to sleep, going to stores, and just sitting in the house playing video games. However, one incident happened, that left me stunned and shocked. My mother died that year, from heart failure. I obviously was more depressed and miserable within my personal life. I cried all 3 months! To make things worse, the last concern I told to my mother was that I hate her. This was when I had the vigorous fight at school with the bully which landed me in the hospital. She obviously had a resultant talk with me like always, and it obviously ended inadequately, and to make this short, I told her, “I hated her.” This impacted my character and my overall ability to move forward in life due to the fact my mom died miserably. It was like a burning hole in my stomach, that I couldn’t get rid of no matter what.…

As a child I did wish for a long lost love, that would sweep me off my feet, well I know that will never happen, but I at least hope to see this happen once in a lifetime. One day I was offered a shining spot even though I will not be able to get the royal life me being a maid of honor to the princess is close and I am going to get. It will be good enough, considering I am in a better place than when I was a child. or even when I left with none. One idea I regret was never being able to travel beyond the forest to see the amazing land that lies beyond.…

If I could have one due over in life it would be my eighth grade year. Eighth grade was a very depressing year for me because I was bullied so heavily that I used to hurt myself to distract myself from what was going on. I also didn't want to be around anymore, I wish that I knew that I was worth something and that I wasn't alone at the time because hurting myself didn't really solve anything, realizing what I want to do with my life and my support system did.…

I thought completing Marine Corps boot camp was my most cherished accomplishment, but it merely stood in the shadows of my last deployment’s final work-up. Combat preparation is as stressful as you could imagine, and that stress doubles on leadership positions. D. H. Lawrence’s poem sounds like an alarm in my head when things get hard, “I never saw a wild thing sorry for itself. A small bird will drop frozen dead from a bough without ever having felt sorry for itself”. You have a choice to make during hard times: wonder “why me” or rise above the situation.…

I remember being a kid, and it was so fun. Just being yourself as one person, compared to what the kids do now. Living the in now moment, instead of looking into the future. I will talk about the “pre-teenagers” now as to when I was a “pre-teenager”. I’m not saying the children now are bad; it is just that times have really changed.…

My family and I took a trip to Hawaii the spring break of my sophomore year. It was an incredible experience, but I found that I was unable to just have a good time, as I spent much of my time in our hotel room studying for upcoming AP tests. I had a profound moment walking back to our hotel on the last night of our stay. It was truly peaceful there, and I felt like I strolling through a intricately-crafted dream. The sky was a dark blue-black, the air was comfortably warm and tasted of salt, and a light breeze blew. We were walking on a path through the beach, surrounded by the sounds of ocean waves and satisfied people in seaside restaurants. I was more relaxed than I had been or would be in a long time. I was struck with a compulsion to record the sounds of the moment, knowing that it would be put me at ease to hear it in the weeks to come. I cannot remember exactly why I decided not to record it, but I knew the glare of my phone would ruin the moment, like a harsh alarm bringing me back to reality. I might have been a little happier if I had. Now, knowing that I am not going to have an opportunity to visit Hawaii again for many years, I wished I had spent a little more time appreciating my brief escape from school, Chicago, and my generally normal life. I could have taken a lesson from that trip to California so many years…
