Personal Narrative: Zoe Needham
Today November 10th 2016 I, Savanah Needham hereby declare myself independent from comparing myself to my sister Zoe Needham. It is necessary to do this to move forward and proceed to a successful life.
I deserve as a human being to stand alone and to not be compared to anyone other than my own self, my own accomplishments and loses. I have the right to make my own decisions and become my own person and the best version of myself. I declare this independence not only for myself but for younger siblings all over the world to let them that we are not what our siblings are, and that is acceptable.
We as younger siblings will often be compared to our older sibling. I have to deal with past teachers that expect the absolute best from me because Zoe Needham was a star student. I have to be pushed by my parents to make sure that I am keeping up with Zoe's scores and test grades. I am expected to make and have friends that are as good and kind as Zoe's friends. Also, I need to be as pretty and in shape as Zoe because no one wants to be the ugly little sister.

I have tried to tell boys that I may not have Zoe's body but I have a different body shape/ type and I am okay with that. I have told everyone that I am a good student but I am not a perfectionist, therefore, I will not perish if I get a B on my report card.
I Savanah Needham declare independence from the comparisons of my sister Zoe Needham by my teachers, my parents, and my peers. I commit to this declaration for my mental health and for a long happy life of creating myself without comparing it to someone

Josephine Alibrandi was in search for her identity, yet via social acceptance not self-acceptance. Throughout the novel Josie transformed, from her feeling isolated and rejected from society to her realizing that she only needed the acceptance of herself. The contrast between ‘old’ and ‘new’ Josie is easily noticeable. ‘Old’ Josie described herself as feeling “disadvantaged from the beginning” and thought one of the many things that held her back from society was being illegitimate.…

are not the independent adults they first appear to be. They have many similar relationships to family members, language, and authority, though they experience these relationships in different ways. An African-American student born in America and a Latina mother born in the Dominican Republic are bound to have some different experiences. The protagonist seeks independence through knowledge and is held back by the people that surround him. Laura seeks independence through a change in society, but is held back by the knowledge her children could betray her. My Own Identity Essay

One’s own identity is derived not by circumstances, but rather by his or her experiences, moral values, as well as motivation. Especially in today’s media, people love to read or watch about impossible stories of rags-to-riches, and they try to incorporate those stories’ motivational plots into their quest to become successful. I concur with Thomas Merton in that I believe “identity is much more than the name or features one is born with. True identity is something people must create for themselves.” One’s origin does not fully account for one’s identity, but it is shaped rather by actions and perception of self. Ideals from “People Inside Me”, “Cut”, and “Commencement Speech at Mount Holyoke College” all influence my point of view regarding…

This tale may seem like a common family issue, but it is only typical because we don’t recognize that comparing siblings to one another is a problem, therefore, this problem keeps repeating time and time again. This parenting technique doesn’t achieve the parent’s goal of trying to convince their kids in obtaining good qualities because a parent can’t conform a child or teen to become a specific person. Due to the fact that the parent is making the kid feel that they have less value than their siblings. This issue may seem small, but then again it is all about your perspective on the…
