PERSONAL SELF-ANALYSIS
Abstract
The Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines “self-analysis” as a systematic attempt by an individual to understand his or her own personality without the aid of another person (2017). For one to gain insight on his or her identity, he or she must be willing to consider past experiences that may have a direct connection to his or her growth and development. In my “Personal Self-Analysis” paper, I intend to highlight how my mother’s death shaped my current state of being – values, strengths, and weaknesses.

PERSONAL SELF-ANALYSIS
I often cringe at the thought of sharing my past experiences with others. Not because I am ashamed, but because people tend to make me a victim. Alcohol abuse, drug abuse, physical abuse, sexual abuse, verbal abuse – I was victimized, but I am not a victim. And for once, I would like to share these aspects of my life without being provoked to anger and self-pity. So, here we are, at the beginning of my “awakening”.

Without my mother, I felt like I lost my “covering”. It seemed like no one understood me. Every dream I wanted to share was silenced by those who just did not “get me”. This really pushed me into a new level of spirituality – learning to seek God for direction in my life. James 1:2-4 was very real in my life during the year God was transforming me.
I am a thinker, but not having mother to rely on, enhanced my critical thinking skills. Humans will be humans and dealing with people from this new perspective taught me to dig deeper and to not be ashamed to ask questions. I saw how my mother struggled with
