Personal Statement: A Career As A Creative Career
“The future belongs to those who learn more skills and combine them creatively” according to v Robert Greene. And as a creative professional, I have arrived at a place in my professional development where I have gained skills and experience in different creative sectors. And I am now wanting to combine them and add a new dimension to steer my career in a direction that is creatively broad, distinctively design orientated and sector wise wide-ranging.
My application is derived wholly from an inner desire to begin producing experiences with the use of art and design, therefore expanding my skills and the sectors I can work in. I also desire to better position myself for collaboration, leadership and directorial output as I would not be limited to conceptualisation but will have an outlet (medium) of design and further scope of narrating the story within the venues and spaces of the work created. I would thus be on par with my collaborators which will shift me from my current position of reliance on them to bring my ideas to life, and place me in an equal position of partnership and contribution to enable exicusion.
I have participated in and produced music, drama and most recently visual arts. My avenue of participation has altered as I have matured and encountered different life events. In the beginning of my creative journey, I

When I finally made the choice to pursue art as my vocation and profession, it was at a key moment in my life. I made a conscious decision to start doing what I love and loving what I do. I no longer wanted financial gain to be my primary motivation to work. I yearned for job satisfaction and fulfilment, and for me I knew this lied in the creative

It was 1890, a difficult time in the still young America, when author Jacob Riis won international acclaim for this bestseller of that year, “How the Other Half Lives,” an in-depth expose on the desperate and squalid conditions of New York City’s tenements and slums. Riis’ book provided impetus to a sanitary reform movement that began in the 1840s and ultimately culminated in New York State’s landmark Tenement House Act of 1901.…

My essay will be about the tragedy of Selena Quintanilla, Selena was a famous Mexican/American singer and song writer. Selena Quintanilla-Perez was born in Lake Jackson, Texas on April 16. Selena's brother, Abraham Quintanilla and Selena's sister Suzette were little kids when Selena was born. Abraham always had a passion for music, In the late 50's and early 60's he was part of the group Los Dinos. When his children were very young, he began to teach them an instrument, “A.B.” the bass and Suzette the drums. Suzette at first HATED the idea of playing the drums. When Selena was just 3 years old, she demanded to know why her father was leaving her out of the music. Abraham simply said she was too young. Right then Selena showed him she was not too young, she showed him her own instrument, her voice. She sang Blue Moon, Abraham couldn't believe what a beautiful sound he heard. By the time Selena was 6, she was already singing like a pro in English and in Spanish, even though she didn't speak the language, alongside her brother, sister, and father. When Selena was 9, her father started the group Selena Y Los Dinos. The group's first performances were in Papagallos, the Quintanilla family's restaurant opened in 1980. Everyone who saw her, even at that young age, knew she was going to be a star someday. Soon the restaurant fell and the Quintanilla family went bankrupt, they were out on the streets without a roof over their head. The family moved to Corpus Christi, Texas where they piled into an old bus with all their musical equipment. They played everywhere they could, on streets, at weddings. Soon all the hard work paid off, Selena even said in some interviews that when she first started playing it was to put food on the table. Selena recorded her first album in 1984 under the…

Throughout the course of my junior year, I have been challenged to be the best artist of my ability. As a graphic designer, I have learned to view things in a different light and learned to express my creativity. Although I am still learning new things everyday about how to become a better artist, I have improved tremendously in every way ranging from the thought process all the way to finalizing each project, and I think that as the days go by I will continue to do well in my high school graphic design career, but in continuing my education in this major and working in a field closely related to it. I have produced at least 5 projects that reflect my passion for graphic design including the New York World’s Fair, currency recreation, and the handmade film poster from the first semester of my junior year and from the second half up until my most recent project, a book jacket, and an organic drink package design.…

I recall being asked by my relatives: “What do you want to be when you grow up?” and instead of an answer I would give them a blank stare. I had no idea how to respond. I loved music, math, design, helping others, working with kids, analyzing situations and solving problems. There were to many career paths that I liked, but it always seemed to me that in order to follow one I would have to give up the rest.…

I have performed in New York City, the Georgia Dome, Disney World, and Lucas Oil Stadium. I’ve been given the opportunity to work with distinguished individuals from around the country and invited to participate in select ensembles. But it has given me so much more than musical experiences. The discipline required to be a musician has weaved its way into many aspects of my academic life as well, creating a more focused and driven person who has continued to succeed in the rigorous academics I’ve been challenged with. I have also developed a creative mindset, that at times, seems uncontrollable. Whether it be creating videos, finding ways to incorporate engineering into an English project, or writing my next original percussion ensemble piece, it seems the applications for my creativity have become…
