I luckily got clinical electives in one of the largest healthcare facility in US - Henry Ford Hospital, Michigan. The hands on Clinical experience on both surgical and medical floors not only aided me to learn medicine in a holistic fashion, but also worked as a decisive factor for me as to whether I choose to be a surgeon or physician. I learned how to work on EMR. My attending doctors, residents and interns helped me polish my diagnostic approach, patient interaction and management skills. The intellectual boost and self-confidence that I gained helped me reinforce my choice to pursue a residency in United States of America. I went back home after staying 3 months in U.S after graduation and started studying for USMLE. I worked as a house officer in Internal Medicine in a local hospital named Tariq Hospital in Lahore, Pakistan for 15 months while studying for step exams. This helped me consolidate my knowledge by practicing evidence based medicine and not only made me understand medicine better but develop profound association with the field. In the winter of 2013 I worked as a Clinical Extern in a Cardiology Clinic with a team of Cardiologists from Wayne State University School of Medicine. I got done with step 3 exam and worked in Griffin Hospital in Connecticut and Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia on Internal Medicine floors during summers of 2014. I want to keep balance between my academic and clinical activities. Provided the opportunity to work as an intern and a resident I promise to bring positive energy and enthusiasm as a medical team member. I am sure that the current era in medicine is undoubtedly the most diverse and unique since ages. I am fervent to join and work in a residency program that provides strong academic opportunities and deep clinical exposure with a patient-friendly environment. I dream to join a system committed in preparing their residents to face all sorts of clinical challenges and also become research-oriented.
