Personal Statement: I Participate In High School
Although I don’t play three sports and do all the clubs my high school has to offer, one thing that I don’t have that sets me apart from other candidates is dedication. I would consider myself very dedicated. As a student, I am a very hard worker and put effort into all my assignments. I feel like it is an important characteristic to have when entering you next step in life. In my case that next step in life is college. As for dedication, I do my best whenever it comes to attendance and I hate to ever miss a day. I’ve heard stories where some students only come to class for three days, which is crazy. I get disappointed whenever I ever fail on anything, whether it be a school assignment or a small favor that my sister asked for.
Other things that I am dedicated in is being involved. I have done science and chess club in high school and I really like that I have these fun activities to do. I personally think that it is a great idea to be involved during school because you can can meet new people and not stay at home all day. AVID is also something that I dedicated myself to. I rarely miss a day in AVID and

I like it when I am given a challenge and have to come up with something that is “out of the box.” I participated in the Asterisk program, which is a paid internship with the Moreno Valley Unified School district. Out of the four high schools in the district, each having roughly 1,000 juniors and seniors, only 190 students got accepted into the program. I was one of those students. I was really happy to get into the program because it meant that I was getting job experience. What I did during that internship was working at a program called Think Together. While working there, there were some situations where I had to come up with new activities for the kids there. Also, when I was tutoring some of the kids, I thought of new and fun ways to help them learn and get

Throughout my years of high school I have always strived for the best grades that I could attain, and they didn’t come easy. There were plenty of distractions that had driven me off course. Whether it was long hours at practice, volunteering for my community, or having a part-time job, I couldn’t let these activities hinder my grades. This purpose had sprung in me, to not only strive in my extracurricular activities, but also my schoolwork. Balancing both school and additional activities wasn’t a simple task. This led me to many sleepless nights, in which I had to tutor myself on certain topics I was struggling on. This ranged from my hardest subject, to studying extra hours on my hardest class, and even simple topics that I needed extra work…

The determination and work ethic can make a total difference in getting into college or not graduating high school. High school drop outs don’t have good determination or work ethic. They don’t want to go to school, so they don’t and stay home. They don’t want to do their work, so they don’t do it. They think they don’t have to do any work and get by in life, but in reality that’s not how life works. College graduates either love doing school work or they hate it, and do it anyways. Their work ethics are great, because they want to do great work, so they get amazing grades. They just get it done, so they don’t have to worry about it when they want to go out and have a fun time with their friends. High school drop outs and college graduates are only a product of the way they grew up; the lifestyle they were raised in.…

Marva Collins once stated, “There is a brilliant child locked inside every student,” and I sincerely believe that my personal educational platform is based upon this quote (2007). I believe the ultimate goal of all teachers and school leaders is to be the key that unlocks the brilliance in every child. Many people would believe that only the teachers would play a vital role in accomplishing this goal and not school leaders, but I believe otherwise.…

I was well aware of what I wanted to become, but not sure how to get there until I started high school when my counselor explained to me the importance of having a full portfolio with a wide range of extracurricular activities. Then it became clear to me, I needed extracurricular activities to become who I wished to be. Throughout my high school career I’ve participated in several extracurricular actives such as math club, soccer and UIL One Act. In the future, I want to participate in these activities or anything similar to those I participated in high school.…
