National Honor Society Personal Statement

Since my freshmen year, I have joined multiple sports teams and school clubs. I have ran cross country and track since the beginning of high school. In my sophomore year I was inducted into National Honor Society and National Art Honor Society and I have been an active member in both clubs since. Other school clubs I participate in include: Mandarin club and Art club. I’ve also dedicated my time to participate in community service. I have volunteered over 50 hours at Brooks Library, shelving books. In addition, I have participated in Relay for Life to support cancer research. I also volunteered at the Dave Birtwell Memorial Walk to help fundraise funds for alzheimer's. Other community service I have done has been through service events in National
Taking higher level courses in math and science challenges my critical thinking to be able to apply concepts learned in the real world. My curiosity to learn more about physical sciences and math keeps me attentive to understand the complexity of how things work.Though I value academics, I hold another interest in the visual and culinary arts. Since art can take on many forms, I find pleasure in drawing as well as creating graphic and ceramic art. I also enjoy creating edible forms of art by cooking and baking. Creating art is one way I can express my artistic ability while exploring my creativity. Another interest of mine includes participating in cross country and track. I like being part of a team because it is a chance to form new friendships as well as make personal records. Outside of school, I prefer to spend my time outdoors enjoying nature. I like to disconnect myself from social media to find my own happiness. Biking, running, kayaking, and are some activities I could not live
As of now, I’ve been successful with getting good grades and maintaining a high-grade point average. Something I would like to improve upon is my writing skills because writing and reading are not one of my strengths. I would also like to learn as much as possible before college, particularly in math and science. I am setting a goal for myself to understand the concepts taught in the classroom so I can use these skills in real life applications. Then I can be better prepared for college, by can gaining additional knowledge in the areas of study associated with engineering. At the end of this year, I hope I get inducted into the National Chinese Honor Society. At the end of my high school career, I hope to graduate within the top 20 of my
