Personal Statement Of Purpose To Attend Queen's University
There were multiple unknown eyes staring at me, waiting quietly to introduce myself during a law camp in the summer. My palms become cold and sweaty at the same time as I struggled to think of words that would make me sound intelligent and appealing. I only had two options: either make this the most boring week, or the best week. As I started to speak, I made a conscious decision to ensure that I stepped out of my comfort zone and amaze everyone, be less conservative, and communicate. Stepping out of my comfort zone allowed others to notice the qualities I project. Like that week in the summer, I will try to describe them again; my personality traits and strengths, weaknesses, and my future goals.

We all like to visualize where we would like to be, whether the vision is wanting to practise law or to become the biggest movie star. I have dreams of being a successful business owner or becoming a lawyer - whichever makes more sense to me in the future. Attending Queen’s University is the first step to achieving my dream. I hope to attend Queen’s this coming fall for either economics or computer science. Currently I am trying to make my vision of going to Queen’s become a reality by doing my best to keep my grades up in all of my classes and actively be a contributing member of society. After receiving my bachelors degree, depending on whether I choose the business path or law path, I plan on attending university for my master in business (MBA) or do a three year law degree. After finishing my schooling I hope to move to a city like Toronto, Montreal,or New York City as I believe I would have more opportunities to grow as a person and be able to secure better jobs. Another future goal of mine that is not school or career related is to own a Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat. To make this goal into a reality I need to ensure I follow through on my career goals. As you can see, I plan for many great things in the future. My main goal is to be someone I am proud of; to do it on my own and without anyone else's influence. My future goals are what keep me motivated to

    The Ways We Lie

In "The Ways We Lie," by Stephanie Ericsson, the author depicts the many ways humans lie and justifies the reasons for doing so. There is the white lie, which is basically telling an untruth . Facades are basically changing your personality while ignoring the plain facts, as the title implies, is a false action done with the intent to deceive. Deflecting is not answering the question at all; it is being up-front about comfortable issues and not revealing the couple of very important issues that changes everything. The omission is simply when you don 't say anything instead of lying. Stereotypes create lies from actions of a certain group. Group think is to believe something just because others believe it. Out-and-out lies are straightforward, and dismissal is simply avoiding the lie all together. Delusion is lying to oneself. Ericsson believes lying is important in order to not hurt people’s feelings and to be successful and happy. I agree with Ericsson to an extent. It is true that lying may cause hurt feelings and a simple, harmless miss truth would have solved that problem. However, the author also states that she tried to go weeks without lying and she found it almost impossible. So basically, the author believes that society is full of compulsive liars but at the same time, lies are important,…

The most important goal for my future is to obtain a satisfying career. Growing up I saw how unhappy my mother was working at a job that she hated just to make enough to provide for our family. I further understood how important a satisfying career was to me when I started working the graveyard shift as a dockworker during community college. I strongly disliked almost everything about the job including the exposure to extreme temperatures, the job’s filthy nature, the long and irregular hours, and most of all because it was unfulfilling. I was miserable with my occupation but I was dependent on it because it was lucrative and provided me with a way to support myself through college. I worked fulltime at this job for two years while also being a fulltime student until I transferred to SIU. The dread that I felt toward my job made me work harder academically because I knew that someday my hard work would amount to a career that I thoroughly…

My mid- term goal for education is to go to college. I want to go to George Mason University ever since I was a kid, I never had a good reason to, I just like it. Just in case I don’t get accepted there, I want to go to Mary Mount University because my aunt goes there. I know I will be majoring in business because I will need it to be good at my future job when I grown up. I know college isn’t like high school because you have a lot more responsibilities. I want to live in a dorm as well or move in an apartment with my friends because it seems pretty fun. My mid-term goal for employment is to be in a good paying job that will pay my bills and car insurance and that will give me some experience for my future job. Maybe shadow someone that is in the field I want to be in or be an intern for them.…

When it comes to my education my short-term goal is to finish out this school year and maintain my current GPA. I find it easier to motivate myself each day if I have set in stone grade goals in mind. My long-term education goal is to finish my Associate of Applied Business degree in spring 2017 and my Associate of Arts degree in spring of 2018. I have enough classes and credit hours to finish a second associate degree in two part-time semesters. My short term career goal is to continue where I am until I graduate and learn as much as I can from those around me. I find that the people around me at my current jobs are very intelligent and it would be wasteful of me to not learn what I can from them before I move on. My long-term career goal…

My educational goals consist of gaining knowledge throughout my entire life, achieving higher than my goals, being as involved as I can possibly be with my college/ community, and continuing to prosper. Setting educational goals is an important part of your academic success, this will help us stay on track on what our educational goal is. A goal will not let me sidetrack if I keep repeating to myself what my goal is. I have three personal long term SMART goals that I am working on to improve myself professionally and develop my leadership skills. My very first goal is to complete school and get my Master’s degree. I have been using all my free time to study and weekends to work on quizzes. This is achievable by continuing my studies at Western Governors University. With a Masters I will be able to move up within my company or any other company into a management position. I did change my degree plan, so now my graduation date has been set back by a year and I will be graduation in 2018. My second long term goal is to completed my VMWare certifications. I would like to be certified in the data center virtualization certification and have been reviewing videos and free labs provided by VMWare learning about their product. This is very achievable because of the free labs that are available along with the fact that I use the product on a daily basis. It is relevant to my goals because it is a product that many companies are using for their infrastructure. My plan is to be certified by the beginning of 2017. My third goal is to retire by the age of 50. For the past 20 years I have been aggressively saving money in a 401k, and for the last 7 years I have been…

    Goals for Chefs

Goals are what shapes everyone’s lives to what they are. Whether it be an abundance or lack of them. Myself, I have planned many goals so I can become who I really wish to be. Without my little goals to guide me along the way, who knows where I could end up in this world? Many of my goals are simple small ones like, get an A in English, perfect my cupcake recipe, or do well on the SAT’s; that add up to much larger ones such as get accepted to a good college and become a well known pastry chef. Well my goal of being accepted to a lovely college has already become true. In the fall I will be attending Johnson & Wales University for baking and pastry. My main goal at the moment however is to secure as much help as I can from people such as yourselves so it can be possible. Even though honestly I’m not the type to ask for help about anything, I need it. My goals mean so much to be to become someone and reach the education I need and deserve. Without it, how could anything else I wish to attain with my life become possible? Without knowledge and experience, how am I supposed to compete with highly trained chefs for jobs in such a competitive industry? Teaching yourself can only get you so far. I yearn for the knowledge about not only classical but modern techniques I could never figure out all on my own. Before my goal of becoming a great pastry chef can come to be, I must satisfy my wishes and goals to learn all I can. My goals to master the art of sugar sculpture, cake baking, and chocolate work. Granted yes some things I have learned already on my own such as gum paste manipulation and basic baking, but how would I ever learn how to create creatures out of sugar so delicate the tiniest touch could snap them? It would never be a possibility in my tiny kitchen; it takes so much room in there to even bake a cake. Just basically what I’m saying is this; without help to reach my education the goals I plan wouldn’t even matter. They would be impossible to…
