Personal Statement On Recruitment
In 1979, at the age of 19 years old and just returning to the United States from Verona, Italy now stationed at Fort Bragg North Carolina. I was assigned to the 407th S&S battalion as a parachute rigger in the heavy drop section. The Air Drop (AD) section is responsible for the Army’s heavy equipment deployments i.e. Tanks, supply’s, ammunition, and trucks. Returning from an overseas duty station afforded me luxuries that my fellow stateside solders did not receive items such as top of the line home stereo units, names like Sansui, Sony, Pioneer, and Marantz. I purchased a stereo unit costing over $3300.00 which it took me three years to pay for. I brought a Sansui receiver, Kenwood turntable, Akai reel to reel and large floor standing speakers capable of …show more content…
I did not know that it required a knowledge of electronics, where the school was located, and for how long. All I knew was I like how it looked. Back at the recruiter office he review my ASVAB scores and high school grades and informed that I could reenlist into any chosen field of my choice. He gave the military occupation handbook to review. I thumbed through the pages for hours looking dreaming, looking, and dreaming until finally I came across the Improved Continuous Wave radar repairman (24 kilo). The school was located in Huntsville, Alabama which was not too far from Ft. Bragg and my home town of Norfolk, Virginia. The schooling was 29 weeks long and I could bring my family because of the length of the schooling. My wife Vickie went where ever I went no matter where. My son was three now and Vickie was expecting again, so I had to think about housing immediately. I informed the recruiter I had made up my mind in my career choice. He completed all the necessary paper work and I was on my way and happy to be! I called Vickie and told her that I had just reenlisted for 6 more years and we were going to Huntsville, Alabama at Redstone Arsenal the home of the Marshall Space and Rocket

At first glance, in 2005, I was assigned to the United States Army Technical Escort Unit. The unit was undergoing a transformation. My 1SG came to me and asked if I preferred Special Duty as a Drill Sergeant, Recruiter or an Instructor. I felt that I did not qualify as a Recruiter by being a single parent. I did not feel that I had the personality to be a Drill Sergeant, so I chose Instructor. The transition process was instantaneous. I envisioned from the moment I made the decision; I was in Redstone Arsenal, Alabama.…

After nearly 22 hours of driving with my wife and dogs, it seemed we had finally arrived in Homestead, FL. It was just about a year and a half ago, in December of 2014, that I reflected on the past few years of my life and felt I was going nowhere in terms of college as well as a career. Upon this realization, I immediately started speaking to a few of my buddies in the Army to get a better understanding of the pros and cons of enlisting in the military. Not long after speaking to them, I sought out a recruiter, but instead of going with the Army, I chose Air Force instead. While I knew that moving somewhere new was inevitable, my recruiter never prepared me for what was to come, so upon receiving my orders to Homestead, Florida, I couldn’t…

I want to be staff because, I want to show people I can handle the responsibility of doing something on a server like this. I also want to be staff, because every day I see people get treated badly because they are a low rank, and no one will believe them/help them. I want too help these players, so they stay on the server to help expand it. Also, so these people can leave the server joyful every time they play , because they got treated squarely, I see lots of people that scam on the server, so I can proclaim in chat the after-effects of someone scamming, and what to watch out for, so you can avoid get scammed. Ever since I was young and had watched movies such as “Platoon”, “Hamburger Hill”, and the television show “Tour of Duty” in the 1980’s, I knew that being in the military was in my future. While my parents tried to steer me towards what they considered “safer” military services like the Navy or Air Force, I knew that I wanted to be in the Army or Marine Corps. In 1997, I made that dream a reality and enlisted in the United States Army as a “Combat Engineer”, basically a grunt that specialized in mine warfare and explosives.…

01 June 2007, exactly 1 year from my enlistment, I report to Fort Campbell, Kentucky as a Chemical Equipment Repairer (63J/91J). With no more real need for that MOS in the army anymore, I was cross trained at my unit to a Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic (63B/91B). While there I learned how to work on HMMWV’s, ASV’s, MRAP’s, LMTV/FMTV’s, and many other vehicle types. It was there I decided to reenlist for another 6 year of active service with the MOS reclassification option.…
