Old House in the Woods
Outside my window theirs an old farm house sitting down in the valley surrounded by pines. The darkness mixed with the trees give the house camouflage in the evenings when the sun goes down. Their is a legend that the property the house sits on is the home of a demon, it's been given the nickname, "Hell's Half Acer".
The house has been for sale ever since we moved here ten years ago. Sleeping there is like sleeping in the devil's backyard , which doesn't sound fun at all. Inside their's three rooms, the living room, the master bedroom, and the bathroom. When you walk into the living room the musty smell of mold and rotten meat almost knock you down. The cob webs in the corners of the ceiling are as thick as a freshly wove blanket. Theirs no couch, no television, and no coffee tables, just an old wooden rocking chair that creeks with the floor each step you take. The walls have holes scattered throughout that make you feel like its watching you. The first thought that room gave me was to get the heck out of there.
In the master bedroom their is one king size bed that looks like its been chewed up by a dog and a dresser that has to be from the 1800's. The light flickers like a street light on the verge of burning out. The walls that keep out the weather howl when big storms come through. You'd have to be crazy to go there in the middle of one.
There are two windows that have thick layers of dust on them like they haven't been opened in years. On the floor below the one on the left is a liter box that reeks of old cat poop. To the right of the bed is a door with no handle that floats back and forth as if an invisible man is opening and closing it.
This door leads to the bathroom that has a sink, toilet, and shower. The shower is filled with rat pellets sitting like grains of rice on its floor. Above the sink there's a mirror that has a lightning bolt looking crack slicing right down the middle. It smells like a sewer but has

It’s a house just like those things in the Gabblebabble township. There’s a yellow sheep dog, who’s very well tempered, and a black one that made a snap at my tail the other day. There is an old grey cart horse, an honest fellow, but rather dull; and a bay mare who is much better…

The opening chapter of Cannery Row, written by John Steinbeck describes and introduces the setting and the characters of the book in very detail and gives a little hint of what is about to occur in the following chapters. The chapter starts with introducing the setting which is Cannery Row, in Monterey, California. The writer had portrayed the place very realistically as somehow nostalgic and sort of poetic with a tone. There is a lot happening explained in very detail and descriptively.…

As I opened the door to the panic room, I realized something…I had opened the door to the panic room. A place that when entered should have been locked should've been sealed so that nothing less than a tank could get through the door. Something was definitely awry. I released the handle and my hand came away sticky. It was blood, who's I didn't know but the handle was coated in it. Now that the ash no longer clouded my vision I could see that the panic room was pristine as ever. The walls unlike their fellows outside in the hall, were crisp and colorless. All except for the maroon streak that crawled along the floor oozing from a sizzling wound in someone's leg.…

I said elevator, but this is not your traditional elevator. The elevator is 13 steps east of the stairs, no matter what size your foot is it’s always 13 steps, always. I tread over to the elevator and press the only button there, the down button. The elevator only goes down, can only fit one person, and if you're lucky, maybe a backpack! The elevator door dings open and spits a massive dust cloud at me, telling me to go back. I stumble into the elevator, and grasp my stuff for dear life. The interior of the elevator is painted black, so you can’t see the blood splatters. There is only one light that dangles by a fragile piece of string. It’s constantly swaying, and never stops flickering. You don’t want to be in the elevator when the lights go out completely, you never know what kind of crawly things come, out to bite…
