Uniforms are not only supported by respected people in school districts, but in behavior studies. For four year, scientists studied thirty students from a school that enforces uniforms and another thirty students from a school with a limited dress code. Over the long period of time the school with uniforms had fourteen percent more students enroll into their school and had a significant increase in the attendance everyday. During this course eight-six percent of crime stopped, including a drop of ninety-three percent of sex offenses. Outside of criminal cases involving school…

This paper is about the issue of school uniforms and whether or not for schools (K-12) to require them. I analyzed three strong arguments from both sides of the issue. The side advocating uniforms argued that school uniforms keep students focused, which may lead to an improvement of grades. Advocates state uniforms deter students from crimes and save money for parents by relieving parents of the pressure of buying new clothes for every school year. The other side of the issue against uniforms in schools argue that uniforms threaten and infringe on student’s freedom of expression by requiring students to wear the uniforms with consequences if not hearkened. The opposition to uniforms also presented a study where the students oppose…

Many people say that uniforms help develop the discipline of the student. This could not be further from the truth. School uniforms only create more rules for a student to follow, thus they take away from the primary function of school: education. School is about education, social and academic, and uniforms have no viable place in that endeavor. School uniforms take up money and resources that could be allotted to more productive activities. Parents have to spend money on their children's uniforms when they already have clothes that would be just as good. School districts have to put money, time, and effort into developing uniforms and enforcing the dress code once it has come into effect. Why not spend this cash on needed school equipment instead?…

At a school, a child wearing a stained ragged-patched up sweat shirt and old tired pants full of disgusting mud stains, she goes to her locker quietly, suddenly after getting out her books, five older students surround her. The oblivious teachers and distracted staff don’t even bother noticing older pupils ridiculing the young girl’s outfit, teasing and tormenting the juvenile girl about her revolting clothes till she cries. Finally after the bell rings for 2nd period the older students leave. It caused the young girl to be more embarrassed and humiliated. In public and private schools, students are constantly being judged on what they wear and how they look. These judgments influence students to pick on others and induce bullying. If schools make uniforms mandatory, this cause of bullying would be eliminated, thus reducing the number of bullying incidents. Therefore, school uniforms should be required for all students because they will reduce bullying, relieve stress and make school a safer place.…

Not very many schools around the United States make their students wear uniforms. According to the U.S. Department of Education, National Center for Education Statistics, during the 2013-14 school year only fifteen percent of schools required their students to wear uniforms. Some people believe that the use of uniforms will help decrease the amount of bullying and crime in schools. They also believe that by wearing uniforms, students will focus more on their school work instead of their clothes. On the other hand, I believe that the use of school uniforms limits a student's freedom to express themselves. Also, I believe school uniforms don’t help the amount of bullying, it could even make it worse if someone can’t afford a uniform. Lastly,…

Have you ever attended a school where school uniforms were mandatory? The answer is probably yes, as during the 2013-2014 school year, one-fifth of public schools in the United States had to do so. As for me, from Kindergarten until 5th grade I had to wear a school uniform. But once 6th grade rolled around and I changed schools, uniforms were not enforced. I’ve seen both sides to this story, and believe that school uniforms are a controversial subject which can be easily contrasted. Some may think that school uniforms can help students succeed, while others think that they don’t alter the success of a student at all. No matter if a school enforces uniforms or opposes them, the education of the student is most important.…
