Human beings are treated like a product in labor trafficking. Debt bondage is a form of labor trafficking as the mean to repay for a loan in exchange for their labor. With exorbitant interest rates of up to 60%, these loans are difficult, if not impossible to repay. Individuals thus become trapped within a system of debt bondage that forces them to repay loans by working unconditionally for their entire lives (Mehta 1). One can observe that debt bondage is used to exploit people into working of involuntary servitude for years and debt could be passed down to generations. Secondly, exploiters make false promises of a high-paying job to lure them into working in a horrendous condition. In a study from San Diego State University, 31% of undocumented, Spanish-speaking migrant workers interviewed in San Diego County had experienced labor trafficking (Labor Trafficking 1). It is apparent that traffickers take advantage of victim’s lack of job opportunities
