Persuasive Essay: Sweets in School
Banned The Sweets Do you think school treats should be banned? What if your child became sick from eating unhealthy food served at school? Too much sugar can cause tooth decay, hyperactivity, and increases the risk of obesity and type two diabetes (Revelant). In my opinion, sweet treats should be banned in schools due to the illnesses they can cause and how they can distract the students concentration. To begin, some treats and sweets can cause an illness to the child eating it. According to Julie Revelant from Fox News, “16 percent of children and teens’ daily calories come from added sugar.” Dr. Oz said that 150 calories is also like 6 teaspoons of sugar. Type two diabetes is linked to
high levels of sugar in the blood. 29.1 billion people have type 2 diabetes in the United States (Adrienne Santos.) Some examples of food that should be banned in school are chocolate, cupcakes, candy, cookies, and ice cream. Did you know, that chocolate has 35 grams of sugar. Otherwise, sweet treats can distract the students concentration. When a kid gets a sweet, sweet snack with loads of sugar, they will go off the walls. One teaspoon of sugar has 5 grams of protein in it.
