Persuasive Essay Driving age
Persuasive Essay

They should not change the legal driving age to 18. State legislators want to change the legal driving age to 18 instead of 16. They think that driving should be another perk of being an adult. Some teens can be irresponsible and not trustworthy of driving. But the ones who are serious and cautious drivers would be punished to. What are some reasons they shouldn’t raise the age limit? Well one reason is because teens are supposed to be preparing ourselves to become independent adults. 16 is a reasonable age to be able to get your permit then 17 is a reasonable age to start driving on your own. How are teens going to learn responsibility to become an adult if they have to rely on their parents to take them everywhere? They can’t, they need to prepare themselves for adulthood and driving is a step closer to it. Teens are expected to start providing for themselves. The normal age for teens to get a job is 16. But they need to be able to drive to get to their jobs. Parents can’t juggle both their job and driving their teen to work every day. Yes some new drivers are not safe drivers but they need to learn sometime. Just because the person driving is older doesn’t mean they still aren’t going to be bad drivers. Safe driving is a result of practice and learning. Just because they are 18 isn’t going to change the way they drive. Drivers have to take the Drivers test and pass before they get their license. So why have them wait one more year to take it when they can get their license and practice before they are completely out on their own. So in conclusion they should not raise the age limit. Driving at a younger age will teach kids responsibility and let them be a little more independent. Raising the driving age won’t help anything besides the teens would be one year older if they wrecked. Teens are restricted as it is when they are beginner drivers. It is one of the first steps to becoming an independent adult.

The appropriate age for a teenager to obtain a driving permit is 16 years old, however I believe it should be raised to 17 since there is a high rate of teenagers causing accidents. There might be some exceptions why they should keep it at 16 but due to the high rate of teen crashes they should raise the age to 17. Statistics have shown that teenagers have a higher chance of accidents. Teenagers from the ages of 15 to 17 are more likely to cause a car crash for many reasons. While teenagers go out at night and drive around with friends and only have their permit, they are putting other’s people life at risk. The three main reasons why teenagers should be at least the age of 17 to be able to get their permit is because they drive and text,…

On this personal issue i do not agree with changing the minimum driving age. Many teens look forward to getting to drive. It wouldn't be the right thing to do. No i don't think the minimum driving age should be changed. If are legislature changed the minimum driving age we would have to have a lot more transportation for schools. Students wouldn't be aloud to drive to school. If are legislature changed the driving age they would be taking away the only freedom they have. It would also be hard for parents to get there kids from after school activity's. Some parents need there kids to be able to run places for them lick picking up siblings. They also may need them to go to the store to pick things up for them. They…

Should the driving age be raised to the age of 18? My answer is no, because there is not that great of a difference in maturity between the age of 16 and the age of 18. I got my permit and began driving at the age of 15. By doing so I had almost a year of driving experience, with a parent, by the time I turned 16. I got my drivers license when I turned 16, and my parents bought me my first car. In my own opinion I believe I am a pretty decent driver. I have never been in a wreck nor have I ever been pulled over. My friend’s parents have always trusted them to ride along with me. I am a pretty good driver, but am I great? No, but no driver is. Teenagers are not the only people involved to car accidents older people make mistakes…

Before the legislature makes their decision they should think about why 16 - 18 year olds are in more accidents. I personally think it is because of lack of experience. If a study were made, I would predict that it would show all new drivers tend to have accidents. Raising the minimum licensing requirement would only raise the age of the people involved in accidents.…

Teenage accident rates and mortality rates have increased dramatically over the years. Nothing that the parents do and law enforces will protect the teens all the time, especially from themselves. Teenagers do not realize the responsibility that comes with driving. They are often distracted with other things such as texting while driving. Most importantly, parents always worry about the safety of their kids on the road. Some people may say that the driving age should stay at the age of 16; however, raising the driving age to 18 will create safer and more responsible drivers. Firstly, teenagers are very careless. In addition, increasing the minimum driving age will allow teenagers more time to get comfortable with driving. Finally, the number of fatal accidents will be reduced. Therefore, the minimum driving age should be raised from 16 to 18.…
