6,000 people who die by distracted driving (CBS News). Nobody wants to be the one to add on to that list.
Not only is it dangerous to be a distracted driver, it is a very bad influence on other people. If a parent is texting, or not looking at the road, a younger child or children may think that they are making an example that it is acceptable to do this. If all of the people that are already texting and driving influence the other people that are not, we will have made every body a dangerous driver. That would make the highways a mess full of danger.
Texting and driving is no different than any other distractions while in a car and driving down the highway going 60 miles per hour.
Even though it is a person's choice of wanting to text and drive, it is still a responsibility to not make that decision happen. By making this smart decision by not texting and driving, a person can save a lot of people, and not just themselves. Furthermore, when people text and drive, they are not only breaking the law, but that person is putting other people in danger. If people were to get into an accident and kill somebody, that person would have that guilt for the rest of their life. Even though they did not mean to kill somebody, it still happened. If a person is caught while texting and driving, they could get sent to jail for a year and a 10,000 dollar fine (Allen). Again, this is still no different than any other accident. If all of us can take part in putting a stop to distracted driving (texting and driving), we can make our highways safer for all of us including the younger drivers, the elderly, the passengers, and the other people around us. Let's make this a better, safer place for us all. We can make it a place where people are not getting killed, not getting distracted, and first of all, people are not going to get influenced by
it.
