Persuasive Essay On Four Day School Week
Shorter Schedule; More Willing Students. Nothing is better than seeing the smiling faces of both students and teachers as they’re walking into the school building. With the usual due date being the day after the work gets handed out, students are forced to cram all their homework into their busy schedules. Most students have afterschool jobs or are too busy completing chores to do their homework. Some might be working late depending on their age, others could be babysitting or out of town, leaving no time to get the homework completed. Too much homework could also lead towards too much stress. Changing the five day school week has been argued for and against due the controversy as to whether or not it would actually be beneficial to students and teachers. When approaching the idea, many people would like to believe that five day school weeks are the most efficient and productive way to educate our youth. What is often overlooked, however, is that it is causing students to dread school more than they already do, and lessen their willingness to be in or attentive at school. Not only this, but many teachers easily get behind on either grading or lesson planning, while the school could actually save money when switching to this schedule. By refreshing the way the school schedule has previously been, we can address the issue of exhausted students who don 't truly learn anything, teachers who are overwhelmed with work and the economic questions within America 's schools. Providing both students and teachers with a more equal week of break and school time by having Wednesdays off will make students more willing to attend school, give the teachers time to furnish their lesson plans and give the school a break in costs.…

If four day weeks were introduced to schools, the students and schools will both benefit. The schools will save a significant amount of money and students will excel academically and behavior will improve drastically. Whenever we have a student/teacher holiday, less students are absent and behave because they are looking forward to less days of the week. When students have less days to worry about, it will make them work harder so they can finish of the week sooner.…

The question everyone's asking it should we have year round school? Well, I'm here to answer that question with a little help from Brigid Schulte on the Washington post. We should not have year round school because it can cut into family activities. Here is some thoughts from the Washington post. Still, when Mount Vernon Community School first considered the idea of going to a modified calendar a few years ago, it was a battle royale. Some middle-class parents argued that it was important for children to lie on their backs and watch the clouds for hours over a long summer break. This post is by Brigid Schulte and posted on 2009/06/05. This is why Michigan schools should not go to a year round calendar because it…

Have you ever woken up feeling groggy and not wanting to go to school or do anything at all? As a result, many students go to school late or do not academically progress and participate in class. According to the Scholastic Scope article “Should School Start Later?” by Justin O’Neil and the article “Sleepy Teens: High School Should Start Later in the Morning” by Mark Fischetti, many schools are considering starting school later to help students succeed academically. Students have more trouble concentrating in class because they are not getting enough sleep. Some students arrive at school later because they oversleep. To make sure that there is less tardiness and the academic growth increases, schools are looking…

Over 20% of Americans suffer from sleep loss and more than 1,500 deaths a year are caused by drivers that have fallen asleep at the wheel. One way these two frightening statistics could be lowered is by simply changing school start times. Students need more sleep than what they are getting due to early school start times, which is getting sleepy drivers on the road. School start times should be later than they are now because middle school and high school students are “programmed” to sleep in, sleep improves grades and it also improves physical health.…

In America, most children spend all year wishing that it was summer, so that they do not have to be in school. They could probably never imagine not having those three months to do as they please. Would they be able to survive without it? As it turns out, two million of the nation’s children already do. An extended year-round school calendar would immensely improve the problem areas in the education system, including summer learning loss, the wide range of academic capabilities of students, and providing costly summer care. Jenile Jaquez, an eleven year old who attends year round school, said the following when interviewed by Time for Kids:…
