To start with, schools located in the U.S hand out so much homework, the students don’t have time to keep up with their assignments.
With the usual due date being the day after the work gets handed out, students are forced to cram all their homework into their busy schedules. Most students have afterschool jobs or are too busy completing chores to do their homework. Some might be working late depending on their age, others could be babysitting or out of town, leaving no time to get the homework completed. Too much homework could also lead towards too much stress. In fact, a study last year showed that the impact of excessive homework on high schoolers included “high stress levels, a lack of balance in children's lives and physical health problems” (Wallace). If schools convert to a four-day school week, it would be less stressful for students since they would have more time to complete the
assignment.
