Medical Marijuana Marijuana has many useful purposes in this day and age, especially if monitored correctly. All though it is still an illegal substance, it can benefit our country in many ways. Marijuana can help people cope with illnesses, help insomnia, and lastly stimulate the economy. Sometimes in society our people and government need to take a step back and look at the big picture to see where they really need to be focusing their attention on. Law enforcement should not be spending all of their time trying to track down and catch both medicated users, and users that are in need of this plant. They say marijuana is illegal because it is a drug and harmful. Nobody has ever died from the use of marijuana. Although the other two substances that are legal and readily alcohol and cigarettes kill people everyday, and yet a plant that helps people and can help the U.S out of this economic rut is not legal. There are many different issues to discuss on this topic of medical marijuana but clearly the Pro’s out way the Con’s by a large amount. There is no doubt that one-day when the government is smarter that marijuana will be legal, but for right now it is just a matter of time. Marijuana has never been proven to be harmful to any vital organs. They say that marijuana takes away ambition and drive and destroys brain cells. Alcohol kills brain cells and stops the aging process of the brain. Cigarettes destroy the lungs because of the harmful additives and carcinogens. Alcohol and cigarettes do not have any medical use at all; at least with marijuana we can say that we are helping those who need it. I not saying marijuana should be used by kids and for recreational use. I am arguing my point on Medical Marijuana for the elderly, sick and dying. I don’t think it is too much of them to ask for medicines that will help them live their daily lives as normal as they can face this horrible terminal
